Alexander Avtsin

http://www.habsfuture.com/2010/07/al...season-in.html

It links to gazeta.ru and then that site links to sports-express.ru.

Is there any truth Avitsin and Dyanmo mutually agreeing to terminate the contract ? Thanks.

From a Russian poster on another board:

Yes. They're citing the sport-express report: http://www.sport-express.ru/newspaper/2010-07-03/7_8/

Sport-Express is reliable. The source is Mikhail Zislis, of whom I've heard before.

Avtsin sniped tonight, the only goal in a 1-0 win over Binghamton. Do you guys think he will be released to play in the world juniors? Or if Russia wants him to play for them?

last year's experience shows that AHL players are most likley not getting relased.

It's a very rare situation for the Habs to have a player in the AHL that needs to be released for the WJC's. The only other time I can think of is when Andrei Kostitsyn was in Hamilton and they did release him for the WJC's.

Personally since Avtsin is playing mostly on the 3rd line and the Dogs have good depth, I could see them releasing him.

Why do you say that? Klementyev, Tatar and Carlson were all released. The only guy I can think of who wasn't was Voynov.

I think he'll be released. As said before, the Habs released Kostitsyn to play for Belarus when he was that age, I don't see why they wouldn't let Avtsin go.

Grachev wasn't released last year.

Well, regardless, three were released and two weren't. It just depends on which team it is really. I can't see the Canadiens saying no to Avtsin.
