Face-off specialist to ATLANTA

Thrashers currently sit 18th at 49.6%..with their D-men being such a focal point in their offense, it'd be nice if they could find a capable 55% guy to get them the puck in big situations.

anyone out there available or in need of a change of scenery?

There are only a handful of guys over 55% and some of it always has to do with the fact that many of them don't handle that many face offs compared to others.

Among guys who have faced more than 300 face offs this year and have 55% or more winning percentage, you get guys like Steckel, Gaustad, Malholtra, Konopka, Toews, Kesler, Stoll, Peverley, Zajac, Datsyuk, Spezza, Vermette, Belanger, Reasoner, Bozak, Crosby, and H. Sedin (in order based on face off win percentage). So those are the 17 guys who regularly see face offs in games and have over 55%. It also depends on if you are looking for a guy to play 2nd line or 3rd line or what.

Speaking as a Canuck fan, Thrash aren't getting Sedin or Malhotra. Steckel from WASH is a possibility because they've got Gordon and they become slightly redundant but I don't know if ATL is looking for a 4th line C because I doubt he'll be much more than that.

Peverley and Slater are both really good at faceoffs. Slater was top 5 in the league last year IIRC and Peverley is really good this year.

I think it is more Burmy Antropov and Little bringing us down.

Pretty much everyone on the Sharks has great face off stats, even the non centers. A guy like Torrey Mitchell might be movable for the right deal (55% right now) but I'm not sure we could figure out a return that helps the Sharks. We need a top 4 2-way defender that can skate. The only guy we'd really have any interest in is Enstrom or Byfuglien, neither of which I see being moved by Atlanta (especially for Mitchell alone).

I literally came in here to post this.

Zigomanis is extremely cheap, and perfect for the job.

Vernon Fiddler would likely be expandable from Pheonix.

I was actually realy supriced when the Pens didnt resign him after the 09 season, the guy was just money on the FO, and did a decent job otherwise asswell

Yanic Perrault is not signed. Although you may want to ONLY use him for faceoffs.

It was the coach that wanted Little put back on center!

Even when Little played RW with Antropov at C last season Little took most of the face-offs.

Came to say this. 5th or 6th would probably get him. He's a beast on the draw, and cheap too. He was a sensational addition to the Pens, he wins like 62% of faceoffs, kills penalties, and a decent 4th liner.
