Stepan is playing and producing points.

There is a solid chance he will finish with a more productive rookie season than

Callahan (for sure)
Anisimov (very likely)
Dubinsky (very possibly)

Looks good to me.

So good to see Debbies and Piles right down the bottom.

Also Tampa has an ugly goal differential for a team above .500

Wonder if Tampa would go after Roloson, probably wouldn't cost them much, his record is terrible, but has solid stats. I'm sure there will be other options as well for them.

Nice to see Lundqvist get the shutout even though the Isles had maybe 2 real chances

Nice shot by Staal to score the only real goal tonight

Rangers could've scored about 5 tonight. Need to capitalize on opportunities when given chances. Nonetheless, they dominated tonight and got 4 points in these 2 games. Can't ask for more.

Stamkos does everything he can to keep it above 0 but Smith comes in for a game and says "NOOOOO".

Good win last night. Awful game but pretty comfortable and should have scored more than they did.

It's certainly nice to get the four points.
Yeah, I was afraid he wouldn't get the shutout because he wasn't facing any shots. No shots on goal for over 12 minutes. That's just ridiculous. Figured he would be asleep in the crease by the time the first shot finally came in.

But I guess when there's only 2 scoring opportunities the entire game it's pretty easy to get the shutout.

(see my thread about how all of lundqvists shutouts are the insanely hard ones and he never seems to be able to get it in the easy games)

Win or lose, you can't ask for much more than that.

My thoughts exactly. I was at the game and the entire sections was filled with idiots which made it worse.

Absolutely nothing exciting happened that entire game.

There were hardly any big time scoring chance. Zero flow. And no intensity anywhere.

In the third period there was a minute left and I was thinking wow, the game is over? Nothing has even happened yet.

And I'm someone who can watch anything, but man. That game was rough.

I was afraid he wouldn't get it because we usually seem to find a way to have a late defensive lapse to spoil the bid. Glad we were able to hold them off down the stretch.

While watching at home I said the Garden seems dead. Honestly it was so quiet most of the game you could hear a pin drop.

Some truly truly AWFUL PATHETIC officiating this game. Only the calls favored the Rangers for once.

I am guilty of falling asleep in the 2nd lol. The SO watch got me juiced for the 3rd though after I woke up during intermission.

And this is why the NHL changes rules to encourage more SOG. A game that has like 5 scoring chances total between both teams is boring as hell.

You don't need any scoring for a good game (96 shot double shutout comes to mind) but you do need good scoring chances.

My guess is both teams overstressed defense after Thursdays game. But Thursday had really bad goaltending. DP sucks (must be great knowing your teams fans love you eh. DP wants fans chanting his name, he got what he wanted, kinda). Biron hasn't played in forever and was a little rusty. Lundqvist came in cold off the bench so I would expect a poor performance

It looked like 2 tired teams on the ice with all the players trying to focus on defense first. I'm not happy that we descended down to the Islanders level but we did play a hell of a lot of games recently...

Staal and Girardi were in beast mode. Damn exciting game.

While glamour and glitz will attract most peoples eyes I appreciate most the little plays Girardi makes, disolving a potential 2 on 1 or stick checking a dead on scoring chance. That being said Staal and Del Zotto were very on the gun with the D. And Hank.

Lots to cheer for if they continue to play so well.

Both teams used up their scoring quota for the week. What do you expect
