And Price wasn't handed the starting job AGAIN this year? Don't get me wrong. Price has been great this year. But he didn't win the job due to adversity. It was given to him. As a matter of fact, Habs management obviously decided that the competition (adversity) from Halak was HURTING his development. And so far, they're being proven right.

And finally, why is Martin creating this controversy anyway? It can only be a distraction to the team (unless Subban deserves it by saying/doing something the public doesn't know about).

Getting back to Subban and drawing a parallel from above, providing "adversity" to Subban at this point may actually HURT him by eroding his confidence and causing him to curtail his offensive game. Is that what you want? Good thing Martin wasn't Bobby Orr's coach. Because I saw a young Orr make plenty of mistakes (one that cost them a playoff series against us when he turned the puck over to Ferguson in game 7). I don't think Orr was ever benched. (And I anticipate you saying that Subban is no Orr, but the point is Orr made plenty of defensive mistakes when young. No coach was stupid enough to erode his confidence in his offensive game by benching him.)

subban is out today? I miss him already. I guess 1 game is more of a slap on the wrist, 2 games is more of a reality check for a young stud d-man like subban. It'll do him good.

Today is a good game to see where we stand, if we get lit up and dominated we should problem keep our eyes open for a d-man(kaberle, pitkanen, maybe something cheaper). If we contend and are involved in the game, no point paying for a d-man now if it's not needed.

I like afternoon games on saturday, gives me a chance to catch another team saturday night. Probably watch the bruins leafs game to see where we stand in the division, haven;t watched much of the bruins. We lucked in this year, our division is pretty weak. Only seems like there are 2 competitive teams.

For the record, everybody's skating during the warmup.

Jacque Martin has no clue how to handle young players..."Don't make a mistake or you're out" isn't helping at all... PK has regressed since he first played agaisnt Philly last year during the regular season... He was dominant.. Now, he's handcuffed... plays a conservative game, just like Martin wants him to...

I'm the first one to bash Martin's handling of rookies but I just want to point out a few things. Firstly, I think Subban's more responsible defensively now and he's an all-around smarter player. Also, it's normal for rookies to break in and be on fire because they're enjoying the rush of playing in the NHL. Eventually they lose the rush and come back down to earth.

This is an urban myth !

Ask Alfredson, Havlat, Hossa, Chara, Redden, and so on...

Martin said on CJAD that he would wait till after warmup. But it seems like if Gorges is good to go, Subban is sitting

Don't know about you but Eller's play has gotten better and better since the start of the year. PK was having a couple of bad moments during the last few games, no big deal + we are winning, only Hab fans complain about stuff when the team is doing well

I tend to think Gorges not playing would make a bigger impact than Subban not playing. I don't think people realize how valuable he actually is

In this case, I hope subban does sit if it means that gorges is good to go.

Honestly, I think our coach is taking you guys for granted by scratching PK....

I hope the Sharks dominate us silly

Eller has been one of the consistently impressive players this year, especially lately. You can really see the possibilities with him. Hard to say what type of player I'd envision him as; could be a Plekanec 2.0 or could be more 'finessy' with less of the cerebral game, but I definitely see some quality puzzle pieces. Just anxious to see how it all goes together.

First loss he'll be back in, I guess. Ironically it'll probably be sooner than later without him.
