it makes sense to move him if he is on the 4th line. However after thinking about it i keep him for depth in case of injur or ineffectiveness from another player. Getting a 3rd doesnt help. Come the stretch run and playoffs he could be a big contributor. He is worth more to the current team than a mid rd pick imo
I agree with this. I've seen this team be bitten by injuries in the playoffs too often. We've got all this depth now to deal with that so we may as well keep him around unless a trade involving another player who could help us immediately comes up.
Zherdev's problem, aside from the fact that he would try to dangle through a minefield if you let him, is that he stops moving his damn feet when he's doing it.

Except he's not as talented as Kovalchuk, and didn't spend nearly a decade in a system that said "Do it yourself because we can't if you don't."

Doubt it, but maybe. He's only signed through this year, Toronto needs the picks they haven't traded away since they're rebuilding for the future, and Zherdev isn't remotely close to being Brian Burke type player.
That said their forwards suck, so they might be willing to send a 4th our way...but what the hell good is that gonna do us, really?
