JVR should have a serious talking to in this intermission. He has been god damn brutal. His turnover in the offensive zone is the reason we were in ours to begin with

Man I hate goals at the end of the period. Why do ours first periods end in disappointment?

This goal is making me ****ing puke. They dominate all game but can't score and let one in with 4 seconds left...

It's not overly surprising -- he was very small, and well off the radar for most scouts. I suspect that, had he played in southern Ontario, he'd have been taken early in the draft.

He learned 'em though..

what a fluky deflection that was. Malin shot that 10 feet wide.

Anyways, AM i the only one that thinks JVR looks horrible on skates. He seriously looks like a horrible horrible skater.

I had a baaaaaaad feeling that a lousy goal would be given up on the Flyers. Whenever they dominate like that and don't score you better believe the next shot on net. . . no matter how awful . . . is going in.

You realise that we are against the best team in the league in terms of faceoffs right, and carter is our best man. Give the guy a break.

I did not see a single turn over but then again I do not know what you call a turn over.

Flyers looked good. SJ had a lucky break.

that wasnt a softy goal like some say here, he was clearly screened by 3 guys or so and it was deflected on top of that

It's easier to make JVR the scapegoat than to accept that luck exists. He was okay that period, got in on the forecheck and used his size.

BTW, Nitty is definitely going to go 37 for 37 in this game or something.

Surprised the 67's didnt take a flyer on him in the late rounds, he was in their backyard! The size thing makes sense with it being ontario, and why he was picked up by the Q.

I'm getting that feeling. This better not be another 0-1 loss.

I believe Stephen Weiss was on that team too. Kari Lehtonen was the Wolves goaltender.

One of the best nights of that run was when the Phantoms were losing to the Penguins 4-1 after 3. Only game I almost voluntarily left early, but I changed my seat to one closer to the exit just in case it became more apparent the Phantoms were going to lose. Instead they scored 6 in the 3rd and won 7-4, and ended the Penguins season.

Game 2 of the Finals was a double OT game in Chicago, and I believe the Wolves were favored, they won 3 of the last 4 IHL Championships and won the Calder Cup in their first season in the AHL. Ben Stafford who was on the team retired to go into the army, and last I heard was in Iraq.

JVR is a very good skater with pretty good speed. I don't think he looks anything close to horrible.

If Nitty played us and Finnish goaltenders for an entire season, he'd finish 77-5 with a .74 GAA and a .984 save percentage.

He does have very good straight ahead speed. But in terms of skating i dont think he moves all to well. He is not able to make sharp turns, he makes these slow wide turns and he struggles to change directions quickly
