Not much Lindback could do about that.

YES! Great debut in the Joe by Lindbach. Wilson stays hot, another great effort from Spaling. The bad news is it sounds like Legwand was not ready and may be out for some time.

Way too close for comfort. Glad we got the win, though!

My heart was racin at the end there.

Big win, 2 points AND Detroit has lost 3 in a row.

Goc played well for the most part, but you have to get the puck out of the zone with less than 30 seconds left.

We busted Boomer, had pulled pork, had a little bit of roasted bird and tonight some calamari. We next play Florida on Saturday, don't really want cat (or rat for that matter). Gotta figure out something to keep the mojo going.

Outshot 27-10 over the final two periods. We might have won tonight, but we were pretty lucky to hold on. Nice game from Lindback and I really like Spaling's work in the D zone.

That was a nightmare almost...trying to get fancy with stickhandling with Datsyuk right beside you.

Nick *** Spaling, what a great play at the end to clear the puck out with your glove while laying on the ice. Love that kid.

Spaling should replace Smithsons spot fully next year

Turning point tonight was the shorthanded goal by Detroit and then Legwand getting injured immediately after the double-minor PP.

With Legwand in the lineup, the Preds were able to play more aggressively on offense and tested Detroit defensively nearly as much as they tested us. Our forecheck was flying, we were getting long cycles deep in their end, and forcing their top players to play defense more than they were able to go on the offense.

When Legwand left late in the second, things just totally changed in that department. Without his two-way skill in there to make things click, Detroit really honed in on the top-six and stepped up their forechecking game disrupting our breakouts and forcing us to defend far more than we went on offense.

Thankfully, Dumont took advantage of the miscue by Detroit and Klein read the turnover and hopped up into the play to create the 2 on 1 because otherwise, I didn't really see us generating any legitimate offensive chances the rest of the period. Dumont's goal was HUGE and showed the reason he was in the lineup over Tootoo tonight.

As I said last night, Tootoo's skill set just didn't match up vs. Detroit whereas Dumont's did. I'm just glad to see it work out!

Hoping seriously that they recall Lundmark to replace Legwand if David is going to miss time. Jamie started slow in the AHL, but has 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points in his last 5 games. He is good at both ends of the rink and works his tail off. With 3 games in 5 nights coming up the team cannot go into another offensive funk without Leggy in the lineup...

Agreed 100%. Spaling should take Smithson's roster spot this summer. Jerred's been a great warrior for the past couple years, but Spaling has grown into that role and provides just a little more right now. Will be a tough call though if Wardo is not brought back...

Smithson won 71% of his draws tonight.

The organization needs to make an honest assessment to Spaling's future. Is he another Smithson or can he develop into more?

I agree with that too. Right now Steve Begin is sitting in Milwaukee and ready to take that spot if called upon. Begin has been centering a top offensive line for the Ads...the spot Spaling had to start the year. Nick was a good two-way offensive player in juniors and really did a lot to polish his raw puck skills this past summer. I'd like to see him sent back to Milwaukee eventually to play in a more offensive role, but the way he's playing...I don't see him getting that chance!

Of all the PREDS needing to score a goal, a GAME WINNING GOAL for that matter, it was #71. KEEP IT GOING, J. P.- I don't think your coach had one word answers for any questions about you tonight.

It should be noted that Dumont played two shifts in the 3rd period. He scored on his 2nd shift of the period.

Didn't get to see the game tonight but Great Win! Sounds like Spaling had a another good game. Love it! Every time he has been up here it's been obvious he's a good defensive player and PK'er but since his last recall it seems like he has stepped it up even further. Not too long until he is a permanent pro if he is already.......

Great win boys!

Also we could have been ahead of San Jose, but Philly gave them the two points.

I love reading comments after we win about how our team is a bunch of no talent hacks that just trapped their way to victory...

Guess fans like to forget how we were giving them fits with our aggressive forecheck for most of the night (until we lost Legwand tonight) and created our offense mainly off of turnovers.

While we do employ a 1-2-2 forechecking scheme, the Preds do not trap! They play an aggressive rotating triangle forecheck.

I watched at a bar with friends tonight, so I didn't get the same in-depth view I typically do. Any news on Leggy?

Awesome win!!

J....P....Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuumont!!! The look on his face after he scored, you could see the relief of getting a goal after all this time on the 4th line and not scoring.

Lindback!!! And Klein!!

No panic from guys, just gutsy hard work.

Great effort all around and good team win.

The host on On the Fly said we stole the win. We only led the entire game. We had the better start, had the better goaltending all game and especially late when we needed it. Our team played together as a team, worked hard and went out and took the damn game!
