Or at least trade down for the 2nd pick and take that kid from Red Deer...
Edit: It's somewhat depressing that the kids in the 2011 draft were born the year I graduated high school.

I agree, Couturier is good but Hopkins is a pure playmaker.

I don't know how to spell his name but that Swedish forward? But hey, any top center would be awesome.

If Flames have #1, go with Couturier.
Flames most likely won't be higher than #5. Hoping we get a chance at Joel Armia if that happens.
Or we can try to trade for Boston's 1st rounder from Toronto. That's guaranteed to be top 3.

What this team needs more than anything is a franchise centerman. If the Flames had the first overall pick, they'd be stupid not to use it to acquire the best centreman available.

As an Oilers fan who wants to see a solid BOA in the works, if you guys do pick first (you'll have to win the lottery against the Islanders, because they WILL be last) I would love to see you take Couturier. He and Backlund would be great prospects to build a solid 2-way team around (that J-bo would fit in aswell). A solid 2-way Flames vs a Run N' Gun Oilers offense would make for a great battle

Gabriel Landeskog. Love him. I'd take him if RNH is gone (since I don't think Calgary will pick first short of winning the lottery). Be a great Iggy replacement down the road.

I would go with anyone. My top choice would be Landeskog, even if he isnt rated as high as several other spects. But hey, I am no Darryl Sutter

1) RNH
2) Couturier
3) Landeskog
4) Armia
but i doubt we'll drop lower than 5 last

Hopkins is just point per game in junior league. This guy is supposed to be #1 pick?

I think Hopkins is overrated
But keep in mind he is playing in WHL, which is typically lower scoring than OHL/QMHL.
I guess WJC will help me decide a little more
