I am starting to think this too... but it seems kind of hard to say it.

I mean, he's only 27, and forwards don't start to actually get into their prime until their late 20s.

I guess he's paving his way for a Mike York/ Petr Prucha career. A few years of very good play, and then falls off the face of the earth.

Look where all of the nonshootout goals are from...with rare exception it's pretty much a tutorial on driving to the net...he's been going away from contact around the net instead of splitting dmen, driving to the goal, and otherwise schooling goalies.

I'd say the Rangers would trade that for Burns. I certainly would. Too bad Minnesota wouldn't.

Well, I guess we tried and hoped for the best when we signed Fro. Obviously that’s not the case. Unfortunately the guy is not going to get any better, so let's hope Sather will move him somehow for at least a bag of pucks to clear the cap space. I don't think the team needs him, especially when Pronger and Drury come back. I personally got used to his uselessness, which is kind of sad.

I don't think we should all expect Pronger to start producing first 10 or so games. The guy should regain his old shape first, which might take him some time.

Speed?

I agree about that... he looks like he's skating in quicksand.

Bingo.. Still has the strength, but his foot speed though never great, has deteriorated to that of a plodder. Seems like its getting worse too.

Not a chance. They'll need every cent possible to lock up Stamkos. Of course if they coudl find a sucker to take Lecavalier's contract that might change but highly unlikely.

I disagree with this. Every team needs to have an identity and torts is still trying to mold his with the Rangers. If a player doesnt want to conform to a team identity than get him off that team. As you can see from the devils situation here, just because you add an elite player to a team doesnt mean its going to make them better. Hockey is a team sport and as homer as this sounds there really is no I in team.

Building a team around guys that subscribe to torts gameplan or any coach for that matter is exactly the correct way of doing things imo. There will just be some players that fit that mold, (such as elite players like gaborik) and there will be some talented ones that dont (frolov, zherdev etc)

I want guys on this team who want to be here and do what it takes to fit into the chemistry of what is going to make this team one big cohesive unit.

you are not getting Burns from MIN without including Staal, MDZ, or at the very least Girardi. He is like a right handed Marc Staal. He IS Minnesota's Marc Staal. Would you take a package of Zanon, Scandella, 1st, 3rd, Granlund for Staal and a 2nd? Because that is pretty insulting. And that is a better package than what you offered up.

any GM willing to trade FOR fro-slo-lov is either desperate or a moron.

The guys game consists of skating in behind the play looking for a pass in the slot, standing along the end boards facing the glass, cross checking other players because he knows he isn't carrying his weight, proving juicy turnovers between the bluelines, and failing to backcheck. Most of this is because he is just frankly too slow. At this point he is a one dimensional player who needs a pivot man to set him up. NY cannot provide that so he is doing nothing.

Hello KHL !

I fully expect to see alexander frolov to be a ranger until game 82. Hopefully he sees the pressbox because frankly I think Todd White has more game, add to it that White is pretty good on faceoffs, plays all three forward positions and can kill penalties. Something slo-ov can't do.

As far as players that could be available

I like Komisarek who is doing nothing in TO because they have too many similar players. Granted his contract is big and NY would need to clear some major cabbage to bring him on board. But he is a NY guy, large, clears the crease. Rangers could do alot worse.

Anyone in Calgary worth taking a shot at? Lets jump in and mess up the Devils deal then it's a double win! If anyone is gonna take a shot at him it will be a west conf team.

Yes I know, and in spite of this fact would you still do Zanon, Scandella, 1st, 3rd, Granlund for Staal and a 2nd?

Zanon > Eminger
Scandella = Vtank/McD
Minn 1st > Ranger 1st
Minn 3rd > Ranger 3rd
Granlund >>>>>>> Horak/Thomas

an ok but easily found d-man w/ 2 years left, 2 unproven prospects, and two draft picks that are total crap shoots? you're definitely not considering it if I switched out Granlund with Gillies.

Discussed in trade forums

Roszival for Tyutin (gets us a LD, cap, CLB gets a top 4 d w/ a great cap number for a mid level cap team - good for owners but if the owners actually want to spend the cap then maybe not.)

Frolov for Hudler (mutually beneficial change of scenery trade)

Lemme think about some more hair-brained trades tomorrow....

don't see any real legs on this idea. I know you aren't proposing it because I have seen it elsewhere

but why in gods name would detroit make such a terrible trade?

I will admit that I was very happy when slats landed frolov in the offseason sigh

No surprise there. Guy signed his papers when he whined to the media. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

yea they will find a taker but they are likely going to have to take a expensive contract back

I still think Frolov who is a UFA for a lefty UFA Dman. Makes sense for team needs and it would be a change of scenary trade

Still have my hopes for Toots coming back
