Worst case scenario is Godard tortures Giroux and roughs him up a little and Richards steps in to help him out and gets goated into a fight with him and loses. Shelley will sign a DiPietro-like extention.
I don't really care. It's probably the appropriate thing. It's still ******** that Shelley gets 2 games and Briere got 3 while Semin gets nothing.
Colin Campbell must really think Briere is a bigger threat with his stick than all 230lbs of Shelley sending someone awkwardly into the boards at speed.

Briere had 2 previous suspensions before that one, one of which was 5 years prior. For the one last year he should have gotten additional, which was the 1 extra game compared to his last one.
There are also some other incidents which are comparable, such as Lucic in the playoffs 2 years ago (1 game), Briere last year (2 games), Carcillo last year (2 games) and Jokinen this year (3 games).
Nevertheless, the argument here is rather a circular one. You are saying a player doesn't deserve a suspension because he was never suspended before. How will he ever be suspended then by that logic?
Simply put, Semin (as well as Glenncross earlier this month) should have gotten a 2 game suspension due to their cross-checks to the head as it was seen with precedent from a number of infractions which I've listed in this post.
Im not saying Semin doesnt deserve one, but the NHL clearly states that previous history plays a huge role.
Better off complaining about Downie or Cote suspensions since they didnt have priors
it also states that the league views stick infractions are more dangerous then pushing a guy into the boards. well guys with priors anyway. Semin is now on the list. He does it again its a whole new ruling
Seems about right. It was a bonehead play but I don't think Shelley meant to clobber the guy. If it was really a malicious kind of hit I'm sure he woulda gotten a lot more.
Maybe they can call up klotz as the pens are a real tough team with lots of fighters. They lead the league in fighting majors. Bad tiem for Shelley to get a suspnesion.
