Desbiens (Van) Boyd (MTL) Cleared

TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie
VAN puts Guillame Desbiens on waivers. MTL puts Dustin Boyd on waivers.

Boyd may be a decent pick up for a team that could really upgrade their 4th line.

Boyd is an upgrade over Brent or Mitchell for the Leafs, but I dont see Burke making a claim due to Ronny Wilsons hard on over Mitchell and Tim Brents PK'ing abilities.

Wouldn't mind Boyd as a 4th line C for the Canucks, but AV really, really likes Bolduc and he's actually been pretty good since returning from his injury.

Desbiens is useless as an NHL player. Not really a good scrapper, and while he certainly works hard and tries hard and has decent puckhandling ability, his intelligence, speed, and agility just are not NHL calibre.

Well, time to see if Florida does actually want Boyd or not.

Wouldn't he be sent down to Hamilton if he clears waivers?

He could be, but does not have to. Wasn't last time we waived him.

Thats what I was thinking too..but also could depend on how many contracts they have (I believe they have 48 right now). But I could really see them claiming him since they just found out that Stillman has a fracture in his back and is probably out for quite a while.

If that's the case, I hope we don't pick up him or another player. Hordi's been fine this season, he's a 4th line grinder willing to go with anyone for his teammates. He's not hurt the play, we have plenty of others who've done that.

I am, most of us are, not sure when one fan talking represents the entire fan base.

would be good for florida to get some depth at the bottom 6. we dont have many good grinders, what we have are offensive guys who just didnt cut it on the top 6, so they're stuck at bottom 6

What do you think you're getting in Boyd? He's exactly the player you describe as already being in your bottom six. He's not awful, but he doesn't really do anything, offensively, defensively, or physically.

I think he'll clear. Fourth liner at best, gets knocked off the puck easily. Can't see many teams being interested.

Is Desbiens even cleared to play yet? He's been rehabbing a broken hand, and now he's waived before he even gets back?

Oh well, one less guy for the 4th line plug-a-thon.

Brent is such a great PK'er - the Leafs are one of the worst in the league.
