Boyd could be acceptable playing on the wing but he is bad as a center man. He is not fast and strong enough to help out in the defensive zone. He gives away odd men rushes. I just don't feel secure when he is on the ice.

Yet, we traded for him and re-signed him... odd.

Well I hope for his own sake someone picks him up. Maybe he goes back to Calgary?

Still wish we could've gotten *something* for Sergei Kostitsyn. Yes, he was a nuisance to the team and I'm as glad as anyone he was dumped, especially now that his brother is doing well, but the guy we got isn't wanted by this team (Boyd) and the other didn't want to sign here (Ellis - not like it really matters).

I would've settled for a mid-round pick seeing how things have turned out. Then again, whatever, no use crying over spilled milk.

I wish we could combine Pyatt and Boyd into one player.

I lol'd, but really, they would make a good player.

Imagine a more physical Pyatt who's better at shooting the puck.

No other team in the NHL is first on the PK, who plays most a lot of those minutes, not goal scoring 4th liners

Pierre Gauthier obfuscated Sergei's release by "trading" for 2 free agents, which is about as ridiculous a thing as a GM can do. It seemed to work because IIRC there was an immediate response on HF in a thread titled "I like what Gauthier has done so far" where there was written some of the most side splitting comedy this side of an 09/10 Price-Halak thread.

Boyd's NHL career is hanging by a thread, it shouldn't be written about in a thread.

Speaking of hilarity, I see that Sergei K is listed as 6 feet, 200 pounds!

Its called addition by subtraction. Most people would have been happy with a bag of pucks but he got the rights to some pending ufas which was a bonus.

Imagine that the habs haven't gave him a QO
the habs traded 1 free agent for 2 free agents

Gill, Gorges, Halpern, Plekanec, Moen... They all do great job on the PK.

To be fair he did help against TO early in the season

I think you missed that there's usually 4 fwds on the PK.. Pyatt leads all our forwards. Let's say he's scratched next game in place of Desharnais.. Moen got in a fight and Pleks takes a penalty. Now were down to Halpern, Lapierre, Gionta, and probably Darche or Cammalleri on the PK. Let me know how long we stay 1st.

Poor Boyd. He's a solid player and deserves to be playing, but I guess it's a compliment to the habs that he's not good enough.

Or it's not and it,s rather unsettling that we have so many players that do the same thing.

he is definately on his way to Hamilton this time unless he is claimed. there are a few players on waivers across the league right now.

The guy needs to play some minutes in Hamilton and show management where he falls in the depth chart. this is a good thing for him actually. He was getting no chance in Montreal, he is not what is needed there at this time.

Is all that before or after Carey Price blows his knee skating to the bench on a TV time-out ?

Because Moen fights every game and Plekanec at simultaneously takes penalties all the team at this very moment... I doubt the possibilities of this event even happening justifies the fear of our PK going down the drain statistically.

Pyatt's good PKing (he racks up impressive minutes there ing good part because he barely plays the rest of the game) nullifies his complete lack of offense at best. He's the anti-Bergeron.

Maybe you are onto something. Lets get McGratton. He would be far more useful to this team than Boyd.
