Alright children. Let's not blow it out of proportion...

My arguments were the same ones made here:

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=841538&page=2

Basically it's the question of cap space vs. usage.

Carter and Richards are more bang for your buck than Crosby and Malkin when given the added cap space to use.

Also, I was a lot younger then, Crosby was not as good as he is now, and Malkin was better than he is now.

If you really want me to be perfectly honest, so far this year, I'd take Richards, Carter, and Giroux over Malkin. That may change if Malkin ever gets back to form/gets healthy/fixes whatever his issue is, but is Crosby's dominance enough to offset it?

Right now, Crosby just might be that dominant.

EDIT: Any Flyer fan that wouldn't give up his left nut (okay, maybe a pinky) to have Crosby in this team is either lying or just a flat-out retard.

EDIT 2: Ah, I see it was 2009. Even so though....
I recognize it's silly but, If I had the choice between the two players right now, I'd choose Ryan. Why? I just don't like Crosby, and I realize his incidents of whining and diving might be overblown, but I just feel like it's not the Flyers. Of course I also realize this kind of doesn't make sense since we have Carcillo who embellished, dives, and fakes, and Bill Barber apparently dove all the time, but yeah, I kind of just don't want him. I'm pretty sure if the Flyers had gotten him via the draft I would feel differently.

I dont care how much Crosby costs, ill take him over Bobby Ryan.

8.7 is a steal for the way he is playing this season

Agreed. This season being the operative word.

It's safe to say that Crosby's hit another level, one that I was hoping he'd never hit.

Personally though, if you wouldn't take Getzlaf + Perry + Ryan or Carter + Richards + Giroux over Malkin + Crosby who make a few million more, I think you're nuts. There's something to be said for cost efficiency.

However, take Malkin out of the equation and right now, no two players or single player on the list is more bang for your buck than Crosby.

Jonathan Quick had a FIFTY-ONE save shutout against Detroit last night.
Good God almighty.

Isles are pacing for a whooping 44 points this season. No, I don't mean John Tavares, I mean the Isles team...
And the Devils are pacing for 51. I have to figure out which is more pathetic. The Isles, which you expected to be bad, but not that bad; or the Devils which you expected to be good and are only barely any better.

Also, the Power drop in the Atlantic is insane. There are two of the best teams in the league, and the two worst teams in the league, in the same division.

I picked Anders Lindback as one of my goalies the other day (I waited too long to pick goalies) since he's going to be the starter for Nashville for the next few weeks. First game he plays for me was against the Isles last night. Guess how that went .

Byfuglien broke the Thrashers franchise record for goals by a defencemen, in December, mind you. I'm pretty sure that speaks worse about the Atlanta Thrashers than it speaks well about Byfuglien.

I have yet to see Byfuglien actually play defense, I wonder how good he is. Every highlight of him, is his scoring goals.

Devils waive Rolston (Merged with Miscellaneous NHL Discussion)

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=345474

"The 37-year-old Rolston has two goals and two assists in 15 games this season with New Jersey. He has two years left on his contract with an annual cap hit of $5.062 million. Because Rolston is over 35-years-old, even if he clears waivers and is assigned to the minors or retires, his salary will still count against New Jersey's cap."

Lou is praying someone will take him off recall waivers....

Lou has made some awful decisions lately. The Parise and Zajac contracts are pretty solid though.

Rolston is one of the worst contracts in the post lockout NHL.

35+, 5 mil, and he pretty much sucks. At least our 35+ is Pronger and Lappy.

Rolston will not go to Albany IMO. the Devils only save 100k. Mckenzie suspects that once he is put on re-entry waivers he could be claimed saving NJ 2.5 million.
Doesnt make much sense either way.
of course if it was us doing it then fanatic would be praising the move by the GM of the year.

The Mogilny/Malakhov signings... the way he's let their D disintegrate without really paying much mind to it...

Yeah, Lou has been horrible since the lockout, too many bad contracts for this kind of thing to be an anomaly.

Also, not to be a total d-bag, but outside of Parise/Zajac, when's the last time the Devils have brought some really solid prospects through their system?

Biggest thing about the Devils and Lou is continually letting their d-men become devoid of any collective offensive talent or real puck-moving ability. Jester touched upon this, but their defensive group is probably the worst in the league when it comes to puck-moving ability and offensive instincts. Letting Martin go and signing Volchenkov only made that problem much worse.

I mean, they've lost guys like Rafalski, Niedermayer, and Martin over the years without really replacing them.
