The Flames are one of the first teams to get a shot at picking up waivers, Rolston was placed there today by New Jersey, Calgary is a team that needs offensive skill and while Rolston isn't an all-star he has a great shot and he might be useful on the powerplay.
With a 2.5M cap hit I don't know if Darryl can pull it off, admittedly despite following the Flames (I love your hockey team guys <3) I don't know much about the cap situation here.
What do you guys think? Rollie a good addition to a team that needs some forwards or do you want to stay the hell away from him?
Things to consider:
-Rolston could probably play in the top 6 here.
-Sutter/Rolston have some tension left over from NJ, that may influence whatever decision Calgary makes.
-He can play on the PP and blast pucks from the point.
He needs to clear waivers first before being put on re-entry waivers, so it's possible to get him at 2.5 million if he clears, but we only have 0.5 million in cap space, and that's only LTIR cap space. If Calgary can make a trade, I'd take him, but there's no guarantee that Rolston will sign here anyways.
