Leighton in net?

Mod note: Thread is closed since the original question has been answered.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Heard rumors that Leighton might be in net tonight against the Habs.
He's got the best record against them...
Leighton went 4-1 with three shutouts, a .950 save percentage and 1.41 goals against average. in the playoffs.

What's your thoughts?

I wouldn't start him until we play Florida next Monday.

Just quoting from the NHL Insider.
I don't want him in net against the Habs(too soon), my guess is that Boosh will play.

Bob should play this game. Leighton still needs to get more practice in, and Boucher played last night.

Leighton vs Florida is probably a good idea, give him a weaker team his first start

I wasn't directing that at you, merely the notion.

I am hoping for Bob since it is a back to back game. I love watching him play.

Ideal situation?

Leighton starts, lets in 3 goals on 3 shots before getting pulled (and suffering a career ending injury walking to the locker room) and then Bob comes in and shuts them down.

We win 5-3.

Boosh has better success than Bob against the Habs, we need the points to stay ahead of the Pens and Habs.

Hard to score 5 on Price. Ideal Situation, Leighton blows out his back taking a dump before the game.

Boucher played last night, there is no reason for a goalie to play B2B when we have 2.5 healthy goalies

I'd give him the start if he is healthy. He is going to be in net at one point or another this season. I know everyone hates him, but just because he is starting doesn't mean the team is guaranteed to lose.

Yeah thats why you wait until he plays a bad team for him to get in. Not a top 3 team in the east

My province doesn't even have an AHL or QMJHL team anymore. Does that mean I am not a real hockey fan? That dude makes no sense

I'd actually be ok with throwing him to the wolves. If he does great, awesome...we'll win. If he sucks, awesome...maybe he'll leave.

We should make a deal where we trade for Umberger before every Habs game.

Oh, you didn't hear this? After one of his AHL starts... Leighton announced that he was both feeling good... and having loss of feeling in his foot in the same interview. Clearly the back surgery return isn't 100% yet.

Maybe that has changed, but this was less than a week ago or whatever.

If Leighton plays, it is simply an attempt to show that he is healthy for the flyers and raise his market value. Trying to get anything worth a damn for a guy who had a serious surgery and hasnt played in the first 30+ games of the season is not too easy. If he plays tonight I think it doesnt help our chances of winning, but if it eventually leads to us clearing him from our cap I will take a few risks to do so.
