Karl Alzner

Hey guys Stars fan here, can you tell me about Karl Alzner. What type of defenseman do you expect him to become or who can he be compared to?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

He's too promising, too core, and too much a regular roster player to trade for a rental like Brad Richards, for one thing. His game is defensive in nature, no panic, and he makes the smart play most of the time. He will never be an offensive juggernaut, but he can be a highly reliable player who eats a lot of minutes. Decent wheels, not bad on a breakout pass. Terrible guy to select in fantasy hockey.

Hope your not trying to insinuate a Alzner-Richards deal.

Anyways Alzner is a finesse player, defensively sound, good speed, decent puck-moving skills, with not much offensive potential. Its a hyperbole but think Ryan Suter.

No I was just wondering what his playing style and upside were because I have never seen him play.

Besides Richards will be resigned by the Stars.

I agree. Richards remaining in Dallas makes too much sense. It will also piss off the Toronto fans, and that's always a bonus!

Alzner is one of those players who is playing at his best when you watch a game, it ends, and have scarcely noticed him. He's not overtly physical with big hits, and he isn't going to pinch very often. He just makes the safe, common-sense play every play, and gets the puck ahead to his teammates.
