Anybody else feel like that was a playoff type game that we won against a better(on paper) team. I really like this teams determination and patience and I think/hope it will translate into some good playoff hockey down the road.
Wow, what a finish. Lundy and the D were great all night. Especially Staal.
It was nice to see the forwards show up in the 3rd. Frolov deserved that goal. His line was the best all night for the rangers and his work along the boards was really good. Glad that boyle got rewarded as well. As for Ani, what a shot
It's overshadowed by a big win and I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, but these are the kind of games where gaborik needs to be standing up and he was invisible tonight, even with the assist.
Assuming cally is out for a while, I'd like to see MZA get a call up
I say NoOne gets called up. This clears the issue with how to get Drury into the Lineup with Major minutes without disrupting the entire team. If Cally was still in the game, someone would have to be forced off their line and we all know how the Rangers have been doing this year. Even though Torts changes lines as much as a teenage chick changes dresses before a schoool in the morning, our lines have clicked and having Drury back kind of scared me of the Chemistry being tilted a bit. Even though he IS our Captain, it would have hurt.
Now with Cally out 6-10 weeks with a broken hand (not official on the times, I am just going by previous broken bones and inital thoughts on time line being out) Drury can be slotted right in for big minutes.
Folks dont get me wrong, I MUCH MUCH MUCH rather have Cally in before Drury ever even laces them up. But this is what we have to deal with. And its called Adversity

It was a great period.... yet MAF was on the Bench
About 4 or 5 weeks ago, I was fuming about the way the defense cannot find a decent way to get the puck out of their own zone.
Since that time, they have become way, way better at this. Makes me happy because for a while I was starting to think that the coaches did not recognize such a huge problem.
The Rangers have made a big gain by getting much smarter with the puck in their own zone.
my dvr decided it didnt want to record the game. only the pregame and the postgame...i did manage to catch the last 7 mins of the game though...how did we look?
They complain about how every time there's a bad call, we go start a thread on it. Now that its happen to them, that thread was started about 2 seconds after the goal was waived off.

Anisimov is sick!!!! skates thru 4 guys and roofs it... 22yrs old!!!!
The nicest thing is that he makes it look easy. Watching him do basically the exact same thing against Zarlomov the other day showed me that wow, this guy is starting to understand how good he is.

feels just as good right now though
I don't think he's a very spectacular goalie, Johnson looked just like him. Yea he's better but I don't think the game would have turned out that much different with him in IMO.
I said to myself during the faceoff before Anisimov's goal that we should score on this ****. I saw the Pens' 4th line on to our 1st... Then Anisimov scored. That felt good.
OMG! I was at work looking at updates from ESPN. The last update I saw before I had to deal with a bunch of customers was in the third with ten minutes left and the Rangers down 1-0. I was praying we could pull off a miracle by scoring a goal, and walk away with a point after we got beat by the refs in OT (this is Pittsburgh after all). I look at my phone twenty minutes later and literally couldn't believe the score. How did this happen? FOUR goals?! I wasn't watching but this game must match up with or beat the previous game we had in pitt weeks ago for game of the season... Amazing!
I had my white away jersey on for the first half of the game, and then superstitiously threw on the home blue (that I was wearing during the Washington game) and look what happens.

I my own opinion, a superlative defensive effort (with the odd lapse) through the first two periods, not much pressure on Johnson. Not sure if Pittsburgh relaxed a bit or not, but the Rangers just kept going at it, kind of like that win against Ottawa last week.
I figured they would at least tie it, but got more than that.
Yay!! Very satisfying win, except for Callahan's situation. That is a complete bummer.
MAF looks good because he never seems to get work on a consistent basis during a game. Like what happened in the end of the 2nd period - the Pens control the play and the puck a lot.
