Pronger's foot surgery: likely to return vs. Ottawa on January 20

Link to the first thread of the Flyers-Canadiens' GDT, game #33 -- http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=853319

EDIT- Pronger's injury updated Thursday afternoon:

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/f...#ixzz18IxbNxEi

Quote:
UPDATE (1:45 pm): Confirming a Daily News report, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren released a statement today saying Chris Pronger had his right foot X-rayed and underwent a CT scan.

The Flyers have nothing to report at this point.

"Chris will be re-evaluated [Friday] morning by a foot and ankle specialist and at that time, we will have a better idea of what we are dealing with," Holmgren said.

Quote:
Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger injured his right foot Wednesday night against the Canadiens, but the team will wait until Friday for a clearer prognosis after initial tests on Thursday.

"During the second period of last night's game in Montreal, Chris Pronger sustained an injury to his right foot," Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said in a statement Thursday. "Chris was X-rayed today and also had a CT scan of his foot. He will be evaluated tomorrow morning by a foot and ankle specialist and at that time we will have a better idea of what we are dealing with."

Pronger, 36, hurt the foot in the second period against Montreal, left the game and did not return. He missed the opening two games of the season because of a surgically-repaired right knee.
Tim P. Twitter:
Quote:
Pronger will be evaluated on FRI. Foot/.ankle specialist is looking for a possible fractured toe, I am told. His loss would be HUGE
EDIT- Pronger's injury updated Friday:

Quote:
Flyers GM Paul Holmgren confirmed today that Chris Pronger will undergo surgery this afternoon to repair a broken bone in his right foot.
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=546654
Quote:
The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that defenseman Chris Pronger will undergo surgery this afternoon to repair a broken bone in his right foot, according to general manager Paul Holmgren. In addition, Holmgren also announced that defenseman Matt Walker underwent successful hip surgery on Thursday.

Pronger will have his procedure at 1pm to repair a broken first metatarsal in his right foot. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Steven Raikin. Pronger is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Didn't get to catch this one. How good was Bobrovsky tonight? The Carter-JVR-Zherdev had a strong game also.

Good Bad Ugly?

Bob was great, only let in one bad one, and that was the 3rd one. The other ones was a 5 on 3 goal (weak call by the way) and the 2nd one had 2 guys whacking away at the puck in front of him to get it in.

Yeah the ZharterVR line looks nice, so its a given in a few days Z will be scratched and then traded.

Who the heck knows!

Tim P.s update... http://www.csnphilly.com/12/15/10/Fl...243&feedID=695

Quote:
They did it without Chris Pronger, who suffered a “lower body” injury late in the second period and did not return. He will be re-evaluated on Thursday. Many of the Flyers didn’t even notice he was not on the ice in the third period. No one knows how Pronger got hurt.
Sam at the Inq.: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/i...#ixzz18FIweinM

Quote:
Chris Pronger suffered what the team called a lower-body injury in the second period and did not play in the final period. He will be re-evaluated Thursday.
The team did not know if the injury was severe, but a spokesman said Pronger was not in a lot of pain. Pronger declined comment.
Injury could be foot or lower leg (from Sam at the Inq.)

Undefeated without Shelley in the lineup.

No but seriously, I don't know how you scratch Z for JS now.

We only have 7 regulation losses. Same as Detroit, but we've played 3 more games then them! Not bad, not bad at all!!! This year has been awesome so far.

If Montreal fans chose Bob as first star, this might explain the all-star voting.

Nice, I just saw Saturday's game is an afternoon tilt. Won't have to miss the games on Saturday like I usually do due to work.

Here's a fun fact:

...
Ilya Kovalchuk New Jersey 14,083
Jody Shelley Philadelphia 13,710
Vincent Lecavalier Tampa Bay 13,634
...

MTL fans blame the goalie to make them feel better. Like Leighton in the playoffs

I could see Nodl being scratched now that Zherdev picked up his game and bring up either Powe or Carcillo for the Richards/Giroux line. But idk who they're going to scratch. Its a tuff call

We beat my two most hated teams on back to back nights. And we got Cliff Lee. Yes.

Nodl is missing some chances, but he is still playing decent hockey. I would rather just keep Shelley out, or at worst keep Carcillo out

I would hope it's not Nodl he's been better than either Powe or Carcillo so far this season.

Powe will stay in for sure because of the pk. I just think that Nodl has been slowing down a little bit. Its a good problem to have that is for sure. And once playoff time comes around we won't have to worry about who to scratch because Shelley will be scratched then.

Or since we are winning games, and our 4th line is finally cycling (which it hasnt all season long) we leave our lines together and Shelly can sit.

have to give JVR credit, he is playing really well. Tough for z haters to hate if z keeps up games like this! real nice pass to carter.

Would be a good idea but I'm sure that won't happen. Lavy knows what he is doing that is for sure. I have learned to not question his decisions to get the best out of the players.
