Uncensored + a 6 game Capitals losing streak = gold.
"Q. There's been no change in the access for the Capitals [having lost six in a row]?
A: HARMON: There hasn't, and I'll give you one example. In the Rangers game, during the timeout Boudreau called, you saw on TV that he was giving hell to his team, but you couldn't tell what he was saying. We have every word that he said. At one of the lower moments a team like that could ever have, you'd imagine in one of, they'd say "you can't use that," but no: They said "he said it, you shot it, it goes on the air." "
"We're even more fired up for this after hearing Harmon's take. He's right: The NHL is the breakout star here. It sounds like we're going to get mic'd up fights and penalty box chirping and hot-headed coaches ranting in the dressing room. "
"In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened." - Vin Scully being clairvoyant in 1988.
The Los Angeles Kings - 2012 Stanley Cup Champions
There will be a special cameo from Floyd Mayweather Jr. Seriously though, if it's anything like their Boxing 24/7 shows, we should see a nice glimpse of what it's like behind the scenes in all it's uncensored glory.
So pumped, should also bring great exposure to the NHL.
I'm excited to see the behind the scenes stuff. For as much as all of us have watched hockey there is a ton of stuff that is denied to us by the teams. I'm interested to see the players work out, some of these guys do some crazy workouts and exercises I've never seen before. The preview also showed the Caps sitting in a dark room breaking down tape. Hard Knocks is a must watch for me so I expect this will be like the first time HBO aired that.
As I mentioned on the main board, I loved it as well. Just imagine how sweet it would be if they followed the Kings.
As for BB, the part where he had food on his face was painful. Considering that they just lost to the Ducks in OT and if they lose their next one, I wonder if he'll get fired. Even though I don't like the Caps, it's got to suck to see the lowest point of your team chronicled like this on such a big stage. Especially when Crosby is shown playing video games and laughing it up. Luckily, we know that the Pens will lose (at least) 2 in a row in the next episode.
That was absolutely incredible. Far and away the best anything about hockey put on camera that wasn't just a game.
Kudos to those two teams for granting the access, though I'm sure the NHL forced their hand. So kudos to Bettman for allowing and pursuing this. Its an amazing way to open up the sport. Just insane how great that was.
I have NEVER been able to get my girlfriend to watch a game on TV. She was glued to the TV watching this series and is excited to see next weeks episode.
SOOOOO WELL SHOT, EDITED AND EVERYTHING!
Even though I'm just beyond sick of hearing about nothing but the ****ing Caps and Pens, I will be a loyal followed of this show. Lets hope they keep it up. It should rotate between teams throughout the year. I know not everything can lead up to something like the winter classic, but A) its only fair that every team have to endure this invasion (and trust me, it is an invasion as much as I'm sure the operators are instructed to stay in the background) and B) I want to see how different all these teams are. The look into the coaching styles and player interaction is just beyond phenomenal.
You know it's good when the hour flies by in what seems like 10 minutes.
A few things I noticed.
The Pens seem to make a real effort to make the "away" locker room seem like home. Lots of signs and placards on the walls, team logo rug in the middle of the floor, etc. I thought most teams did this but it didn't appears the Capitals did, or maybe the editing just didn't show it.
Boudreau with the food all over his face was both ******* hilarious and ******* ridiculous. Dude, seriously. And his clothes at the beginning of the show...red sweat pants with a red long sleeved tee that, shall we say, "accentuated" his gut....well, I know it seems petty until you think about the fact that he needs multi-millionaire top-notch athletes to respect him, and the guy doesn't even seem to repect himself.....
The Bylsma/Shero player-rating interchange was fascinating. I'm guessing every GM in the league watched that show last night trying to get a glimpse of how the "other side" does things.
Player cars....noticed that the dudes who are unmarried/no kids drive the Benzes and BMW's.....while Pascal Dupuis (married with 4 kids) rolls in his Chevy mini van thing.
Loved how Dupuis walks into the training center and says "hey boys" to the players seated, then sees Malkin and just says "F%@* you, Geno".
Can't wait til next week. Agree the NHL needs WAY more of this stuff.
Was Bruce Boudreau grabbing his junk in the first few minutes of the episode when he is talking in front of the team? He seriously had his hand down his sweat pants the whole time he was talking. I wonder if he shook anyone's hand after that?
By far my favorite TV show of the year. Man they really need to make this a regular thing or at least do one for every team that is a summaryof their season at the end of the season like the NFL does or used to do.
