Kostitsyn participated in the full morning skate tonight and will play tonight.

Rinne was back on the ice today and taking shots in the morning skate, but will not dress tonight as he continues to recover.

Legwand and Lombardi are still OUT.

I hope the team doesn't rush these guys. It's still the first half of the season.

Came on to say Rinne is close to returning per Josh Cooper, but looks like Slake and BTN beat me to it.

Great, if Pekka is healthy he should get the go ahead. Although Lindback needs a bounceback game asap aswell imo.

Hey Slake just a suggestion, do you think a sticky thread of all preds injurys that could be useful? Just a thought. But I dont think Lombardi will be coming back this year, and I hope Hornqvist didnt get a concussion to, cause the hit he took after his 2nd goal against the Islanders was brutal. You sure dont want to see the same thing happen to him that happened to Lombardi. Hope to see Leggy stay healthy when he returns next game?

Hornqvist and Pekka say they're going to play Wednesday. Legwand has been skating, but is still "questionable."

I just hope Peks can bounce back from his knee injury faster than he seemed to bounce back from his previous (groin? I don't recall) injury. He looked shaky the first few starts back last time, and I'm pretty sure that's when our losing streak began. We can't afford another streak like that.

Rinne hurt his knee in the season opener. Haven't received confirmation, but I do believe it was also that same knee that was scoped a couple weeks ago. Pekka was playing through something, it wasn't 100% and he still had pain in that knee from my observations at practices, but was playing through that pain and doing so very well. That's why the comment he made last week to Bryan Mullen of the TNn that he was close to 100% already, but had absolutely no pain in his knee was such a relief.

To coincide with that earlier streak, that was the same time that we lost Goc vs. Washington and I've pointed out repeatedly what happened when we only had two of our four opening night centers available...essentially the offense was averaging 1.5 goals per game. We lost a lot of 1 goal games during that stretch due to the inability to score 2-3 goals per night, but it was the strength of the goaltending that allowed us to force OT/SO's and pickup those valuable "loser" points and stay in the race, while also being unable to win...

Dr. Trotz said: "....he wasn't sure when the injury occurred and that it wasn't discovered until the plane ride back to Nashville. He added that it is not related to the one Rinne suffered in the first game of the season that kept him out of three games." This was said a couple of days after the CBJ game at the same time they said he would be out 2-4 weeks.

So obviously since Dr. Trotz said it's NOT related to the game 1 injury, it most certainly IS the same problem with the same knee.

Remember:

"Day to day" means he might be dead...we're still waiting on the test results.
"A few games" means somewhere between a few weeks and career ending.
"He's o.k." means he's breathing and his head is still attached.
"We'll see how he feels after the morning skate" means he's stuck in the MRI machine and we're not sure if we can get him out by game time.

Franson missed the past two games for personal reasons related to the death of his grandfather. He has returned and skated in his normal spot with Shane O'Brien this morning at practice.

That was a comforting thought on Saturday. Sulzer didn't make a strong case for earning more icetime. It's difficult to stand out as having a bad game in a game like that...

Just curious, what kind of sources do you guys use for updates in terms of injuries/lineup changes for the team? Twitter? Radio? or just Team website?

Anyone know what Horny's condition is right now?

Thanks.

I, and I know Seth as well, usually get our info by going to practice and eyeballing as much as possible.

Hornqvist will play tomorrow for sure, barring some unforeseen setback.

Hornqvist and Franson back in the lineup tomorrow night at Chicago per Trotz. Rinne to play one of next two games, which one still to be decided. Legwand out at least the next two games with his lower body injury.

I take it that Legwand's LBI didn't react well to skating on Monday...

Only time will tell. As has been said, he's out indefinitely till something changes and the calendar pages keep turning over, you've gotta at some point question his future. He is a husband, son, and father first and foremost. He's gotta make sure that he's as healthy as possible for all of that before he makes a decision on his hockey playing future.

There is absolutely no reason to rush Lombardi back...
