I love powe, but i only see him as a 4th line guy, who can occasionally play the 3rd line with Richie.

Agreed. I love Powe. He's the kind of player you can stick in any role and he'll be alright while providing valuable PK time.. I think he excels on the 4th line but can play a top 9 role for stints because he is such a good skater and is good on the forecheck.

Leino looks either sick or injured to me. Two games in a row he's been mediocre at best and making strange, un-Leino decisions.

Well, this is disconcerting:

Quote:
We will find out more today about the foot injury that forced Chris Pronger to leave last night's game early. The Flyers initially gave the injury the nebulous "lower body injury" description, which led to immediate suspicion that he tweaked his surgically repaired knee (which has bothered him all season) again. While there's never a good time for an injury, at least this one happened at the end of a very busy stretch of games that will be followed by a very sparse schedule until after Christmas.

yeah he said he still hasn't hit 100% on the knee.

This is live or die time for Carle if Pronger misses games. He needs to step his game up big time

Well, based on the third period... the Carle/Coburn pairing was extremely hairy when they were out there together. I would much prefer O'Donnell being out there on the double shift than Coburn, but I'm not sure O'Donnell can really do the expanded work load.

Not sure I trust them paired either. Mez is rather aggressive positionally, which is fine with O'Donnell next to him, but a potential problem with Carle there.

Carle just doesn't seem capable of being a good dman without an excellent partner.

Any pairing with Bartulis is gonna be a **** show of sorts at the start, simply because of his lack of playing time.

So, the first couple games without Pronger in the line-up and before Mes and Timonen started playing well where Carle was our best dman are already forgotten, eh?

Has anyone considered the fact that Pronger has been holding Carle back thus far? Honestly, Pronger has looked (other than his slap shot) like a shell of himself. Players are stick handling through him, he is making bad decisions with the puck, it really is like night and day from last season.

Sure, Carle has made his fair share of mistakes, but Coburn has looked like garbage and O'Donnell has looked like a pylon at different points in the season. Everything Carle does wrong, though, is amplified by you guys for whatever reason.

The fact is, he is the 5th highest paid dman on the team and is tied for the team lead in points. Get off his back a little and compare him objectionably with the rest of the d corps and you will finally see that you all sound ridiculous.

Pronger has looked awesome after the first few games of the year, so no he doesn't hold Carle back.

I'm pretty sure they all get called out equally. OD has had a couple of dreadful games I remember getting on him for. The reasons Carle's mistakes are amplified, is because he makes more of them

I would rather Carle have half the points and more defense/less stupidity

The flu bug tends to be contagious and word has it that more than one person has been under the weather in recent days. He could be one.

My prediction: You are going to see a very different Kimmo Timonen than you've seen so far this season. Even though he's a great teammated and a consummate professional he wants to play every single minute of every game.

He's going to be our MVP for as long as Pronger is out.

Carle has been our worst defensive defenseman all year long. He's made up for it by the team being really productive offensively with him on the ice.

If I was the coach, with a very sparse schedule coming up, I would tell Pronger to take a week or two off and get that knee healed. It will be a good decision in the long run. For that time period roll with:

Timonen-Coburn
Mez-OD
Carle-Bartulis

I would not break up either of the other two pairings as I feel that leaving them together would be more beneficial.

We can still win with that defense and I want Pronger healthy.

Depending on the nature of the injury, I prefer this idea as well... I definitely am not a fan of Coburn-Carle as the 2nd pairing.
