It'll be interesting to see what happens with him.
To be fair, Beck patterns his game after Shane Doan. He has video of Doan that he uses to scout Doan and pickup on tendencies and the like...

Due to injury, Budish still has a lot to prove. Unfortunately, he was expected to be a two year NCAA player, but is now likely looking at playing all 4 years (or even a 5th) before making the jump to the AHL.

I forgot about that. Either way, it bodes well for his future if he turns out to be either.

Exactly, I really think one of the biggest differences in the "star" status of Doan vs. Iginla is that Doan started as a young guy in a Canadian market, but then moved with his team to Phoenix. Iginla started as a young guy in Dallas, but was then traded to Calgary where he blossomed into the star.

On the ice, I believe both have a huge impact for their respective teams and would love either to wear our uniform...

Looking at the standings yes, there are 5 34 pt teams, and 4 33 pt teams BUT Chicago has played 2-3 more games than the other teams and only has 1 more point. Anaheim has 34 points BUT has played 4 more games than the Preds.

Edmonton and Calgary look to be sinking out of it being 7 pts from the playoffs.

Sadly, Detroit is still looking freakish.

Discussions like this are why I like points percentage standings and predictions.

Per the ones at http://zorak.best.vwh.net/nhl/ the only Central team not in the playoffs is Chicago - Nashville's 2nd in the division (5th in the West), while my Jackets and That Team On The Mississippi hold 7th and 8th respectively.

I think Chicago bounces back after Xmas. Nashville is playing some good hockey right now, and the rest of the division is as well. I really could see all five teams making the play offs this season.

One thing we have to remember too, we have to take advantage of having more home games at this point. We have done well on the road and our home record is quite good. Detroit has played the complete opposite as us at home and on the road. If we continue our home play with our road play, we should be fine.

Preds are playing .750 hockey. Detroit .650, question is, can the Preds catch up?

Hahaha nice

The Preds are only 5 points behind Detroit, so if the play of both teams stays the same as it has been for the past 10 games or so we can obviously catch up. I'm not saying it happens, and honestly don't think it does. I'm just saying it's possible.

We're going to have to play like we did in Detroit if we want to catch them.

Detroit has played I think 4 more home games than we have at this point. If we play at our current pace at home and on the road and Detroit does the same thing, it will be a tight race at the end of the season atop the central division.

After tonight's game the Preds are currently on pace for 104 points this season...

It's about time someone pays attention outside of the Music City (and Taiwan )!

Not to be argumentative (altho it is an internet message board, isn't it) but the Wings have a significantly better road winning % than we do.

In my group of foreign friends here there's only myself and another that love ice hockey. I do my best to win the hearts and minds of others that I meet but plenty I won't waste my time talking to.

Sure, and better stats in many other areas as well. That said we're not far behind them in points and we play them four more times this regular season.

The Preds CAN catch up to the Wings. The questions are can we continue this pace of the last 12 games (7-2-3) or something close, and will Detroit maintain its current pace (7-4-1 L12), have it slowed, or get better?

Right now I just hope the team is leaving all of this division ranking crap to us fans and focusing on stockpiling points while it can. The season is only going to get tougher. Luckily the back end of our schedule is heavily loaded with home games.
