it does?
cmon people lets face it, this team has scored goals in bunches and without the r/w/b colored glasses one has to admit theyve been largely credited to the opposing goalies incompetence. When Brian Boyle is 2nd on the team in goals, you gotta know that well is going to run dry sooner or later.

Cally brings more to the table than 15 drury's, the games are similar but not even close in terms of overall effectiveness. Losing cally's forecheck is going to leave a dent in an already mediocre offense. plugging MZA or williams into dru's spot and moving dru down will not work over the long run.

This injury bothers me just as much, if not more than the gabby injury. this SUCKS!

This injury is most definately devastating! the only way i see an injury being more devastating would be to see hank or staal/girardi go down or better yet brian boyle...heaven forbid we lose our sniper!

People said the same thing when Gaborik went down. Sometimes, you have to think that guys will step up, knowing that one of their leaders is out.

The Rangers aren't leaderless. It's not like we are going to see a guy come from Hartford to replace what Cally does. It means that everybody will now have to work just a bit harder.

I'd love to see MZA called up but most likely it will be White (bla) or Grachev

or do you look at it from the glass half-full point of view and say we are 9th in the nhl in offense scoring 3.00 goals/game DESPITE getting nothing from drury and prospal and aside from a 2 hat tricks virtually nothing from gaborik, nothing from frolov, etc...

plenty of guys we expect to score that haven't done much this year and could make our offense even better if they start scoring like they are expected to

think the team can keep it going, think they should give avery a little time with dubi, he doesnt hit as much as cally but he is a better passer. injury spoiled such a great 3rd period push. get well soon cally

Our number of games lost to injury this season must already be more than the past 2 or 3 combined.

Callahan had his appointment 4 hours ago and no news yet. Torts meets the media about 5pm before games. The timetable should be announced then.

Seriously, comon. This team survived having no captain (regardless of who it is), no Prospal, no Gaborik or Rozsival for a few games too. Of course there's nobody worse to lose than Callahan but it's not on the same scale as losing Hank or somebody SO necessary to the success of a team. We'll get through it.

Agreed, i wouldnt flip out just because Callys out for a month and a half. Sure it sucks, he means a ton to this team but think of it this way - For a guy who gets killed the entire season and plays a very aggressive style, 6 weeks off in the middle of the year might help this team in the playoffs.

They get another boost to the lineup in 6 weeks. They have pretty decent depth with Prospal coming back soon. Just stay the course. You have to. The Rangers have been extremely fortunate the past few seasons with injuries. Sooner or later youre going to have a tough year.

Further to the above...

"He does not need surgery. It's a non-displaced fracture."

Non-displaced is a good indiciation. I think he will heal faster, approximately 4-6 weeks.

Just inject him with that Plasma juice that Gabby was receiving.

Not an expert, just my gut saying that Cally will be back sooner.

I hope he didn't take TOO much inspiration from Drury, and he comes back and re-breaks his hand because he came back too early.

The "good" out of this is the schedule is very light the rest of the month after Saturday and the end of the 6 weeks is the All Star Break so that should give Cally a little more extra time to heal.

It's gonna stink without him for the next 6+ weeks but having him at full force for the stretch run will be huuuge.

Sure it hurts, but Cally gets 6 weeks rest now - if the Rangers make the playoffs well have a player with great legs, and one that really performs well when fresh. At least its not a leg problem and just a bone or two that can heal.
As mentioned this could be a blessing in disguise. With the breaks (X-mas n All-star) he won't miss as many games, plus having him fresh for the stretch run could be huge. As the timing goes, it couldn't have been any better.

One thought I have though is, we might struggle without him. I believe we will miss him alot more than we missed Gabby. Just a feeling I have. He played in all situations and brought alot of intangibles that won't be replaced by whoever fills his spot. Dubi might struggle in his absence. I hope not. This is a good test for him. Prospal's return is key, cause it will no doubt ignite a fire under Gabby. So again, the timing is pretty good.

If we could get by without him, just think of how strong we will be, down the stretch when he returns.

We'll miss Cally indeed.

But Drury will replace him well and we will overcome Cally's injury.
