You do realise that he has a one year contract and you do realise that the Habs won't re-sign him?

But i'm happy for him, he will get the chance to play. But the best scenario would have been that he would be pick on waivers.

24 isin't old, but if you watched the Bulldogs game last weekend on CBC like most people here did.

In the interview with the Dogs owner, he said that he has an agreement with the Habs to make sure there are older players in Hamilton anyway. That's why guys like Henry, Sanford, etc are there.

The Habs keep some of their better prospects in the CHL anyway.

Palushaj-Desharnais-Boyd
Russell Engqvist Avtsin
Wyman-Fortier-Conboy
Bonneau-Dumont-Schultz
Extra : Bishop

Carle-Nash
Henry-Klubertanz
St.Denis-Urquhart
Conboy-Fortier-Palushaj looked great together, I'd like to see this:

Russell-Desharnais-Avtsin
Boyd-Engqvist-Wyman
Bonneau-Dumont-Schultz

But that still leaves Bishop out, which proves that Boyd is taking playing time away from the kids.

Come on! Boyd has a better chance to establish himself in the NHL tahn Bishop does anyway...

Plus I'd think Randy would keep Avtsin and Engqvist together for now..

So what do you rather do? Keep him up on the NHL roster so he can waste cap space?

There are plenty of spots he can take on the Bulldogs lineup without stealing ice time from any of our prospects with NHL potential. Its much better for the development of afore mentioned players to be on the ice with good players too. In case we REALLY need him (we've had a zillion injuries before) then he'll be in better shape to help us after having played some games this year. If he does real good in Hamilton then perhaps he'll get another chance here too. Its unlikely but so were a lot of things that actually happened.

If Bonneau plays and Bishop doesn't then perhaps Bishop doesn't stand a chance to ever play in the NHL. Surprisingly few of these guys are going to have an NHL career.

Just saying...

Bishop isn't a top prospect. He has no points in 7 games so I'm not even sure that he is ready for the AHL, anyway.

Before sending Boyd in the AHL, we had 12 forwards + Masse in the ECHL. Which is some really thin depth. I don't think that the organization wants to relive the same situation as last year where they only dress something like 15 or 16 skaters for same games.

I don't see what's the big deal. Boyd will help our prospect getting better in the AHL. Bishop will get more playing time in the ECHL while being one callup/injury away from returning with the Dogs.

Coach Cunneyworth seems to like his goons a little bit much. Bonneau played all the games while some decent prospects like Dumont, Conboy, Fortier and Avtsin skipped a few turns.

what, he isn't depth? sure he passed through waivers but so did many others around the league. He is 24 and has many NHL games under his belt. The man is Depth.

Well if anything thats all he is, depth.

The ones who were wrong were those, like myself, who said he'd be a good roster player and play most if not all games.

I'm a big fan of Avtsin. He's one of the youngest forwards in Hamilton and is playing on NA ice surfaces for the first time.

I can only expect this kid to improve a lot over the next few seasons. He's got skill and size. Now all he needs is experience.

The more ice time he gets the better. If he really wants to play on the Habs one day, he will do like Max Pacioretty and listen to what the organization asks of him and follow it. He's done the first step. He left the KHL to play in Hamilton. My only worry is that he pulls a Perezhogin. But I won't blame him if he goes back to play there in Russia if he doesn't get a contract in Montreal if he is playing well in Hamilton.

Agreed! Maybe one to three players on the Bulldogs will have NHL careers, maybe. He is not "stealing" playing time from the AHL squad, but may increase the youngsters' confidence if he plays well, they continue to play well and advance to the calder Cup. Having Boyd in Hamilton is good for that team. He scores in his first game!

ya because we all know how the AHL is the defining league for players in the NHL....

c'mon dude. Som guys take time to develop. some guys respond better to a bigger challenge.

just cuz Boyd's got 2 goals in the AHL, it doesnt mean squat. Maybe he's just pissed he got sent down AND didnt get picked up by anyone. And he's channeling his energy in showing that he DOES belong in the NHL.

Good for him.

Well who else is suppose to be that better than a 13th NHL forward right now? Desharnais is clearly demonstrating that he belongs but we have no room for him....now. Maxwell is coming back from an injury. Palushaj is at a PPG pace. And it also says that the rest are not ready, and some will never be, just like msot of the AHL teams.

Oh and by the way, scoring 2 goals does not necessarily outplaying them. While Pacioretty was scoring goals a lot in the AHL, he did mention that he was playing with the best player he ever played with in Desharnais....

whoever plays with Desharnais scores goals. Gulmac gets put with DD, scores a career high 33 goals. Trotter gets put with DD, goes from 18 to 37 goals. Palushaj gets put on DD's line in the playoffs and this year, had 12 pts in the playoffs and almost a PPG this year. Pac get put with DD and then goes on to led the AHL in goals.

What do you think Desharnais would do with Alexandre Giroux on his line?
