Olli Jokinen should be the first star tonight. Backlund should be second. Morrison should be third

Well, 1/3 is not a bad guess

After having to hear the media fenzy about Phaneuf returning to Calgary for the last two days, it was nice to see the Flames win this game. Most importantly, back to back wins!

Good game boys, you deserved it big time.

Leafs were brutal from start to finish, and you took advantage of it. Hopefully next time we verse we give a good game instead of an ugly one! Kipper came right in time in the end of the game when your players were slowing down!

Cheers!

overall solid effort. hopefully the effort jokinen is bringing the last few games is a sign of things to come. thought all 4 lines were solid tonight, backlund morrison and kotalik created chances. the 4th line did its job, although id prefer to see glencross in over moss or kostopolous, they outplayed the leafs energy line. stajan responded well enough to his recent scratching. keep it up boys!

Jokinen has received a lot of criticism this year, and rightfully so. But I gotta give credit where credit is due, he was easily the best player on the ice tonight.

Stajan is snakebitten, but I thought he had a good game. His pass to Tanguay for the goal was pretty nice.

Good game. Although Flames were starting to get lazy at the end.
Liked seeing Dion get burned by Olli & Iggy.
Leaf fans, we warned you about this!

No different than how certain members of this board treat visitors from other teams.

And 1 game under .500, and 4pts out of the playoffs. This next stretch of 5 games is against non-playoff teams. We need to put in good efforts and pull this team back into contention before christmas. We have an opportunity to pull into 8th or so and we need to jump on it.

Gimme some quotes! I love quotes from the other teams biased announcers when their team is losing.

Yeah, a win Saturday vs. the Wild would be huge. They lost tonight so the Flames leap over them into 13th in the West.

I know Glencross hasn't played well recently, hence the healthy scratch tonight, but I'd like to see him back in the lineup Saturday. His speed and grit would be useful vs. the Wild. I'd imagine after being benched, he'll have something to prove.

I seem to remember some guys trashing Babchuk and us getting him as the return for White... but I just thought I would bring up some numbers...

As Flames this season...

White - 16 Games, 2 Goals, 4 Assists, 6 Points, -10, 6 PIM, 21:44 TOI
Anton - 15 Games, 1 Goal, 4 Assists, 5 Points, +2, 6 PIM, 17:05 TOI

considering the Flames actually won a bunch of games with White in the lineup in October that +/- difference of 12 is ridiculous... while Anton doesn't eat up the same amount of ice-time he has been much more reliable than White... also Kostopoulos > Sutter... so this deal is really looking like alot of win for the Flames

Really good game, awesome flow in the 1st and good energy for both teams. One of the most entertaining games I've seen the Flames play this year. All 4 lines played great tonight, the Flames played a total Brent Sutter game tonight and they finally played up to their abilities. Iggy and Tangs looked good, Stajan had good energy. Olli looked good again, he's been bringing a way better game and making an impact over the last 4 games. But tonight was his most consistent 60 minute effort. Backlund was very good again, this kid just keeps impressing me more every game. Our defence was good overall and executed the game plan well and Kipper was his usual solid self. Great team effort by the boys!

Finally this team gave us something to cheer about with back to back to wins. If they can string together some wins over this next stretch of games, maybe their confidence will get to a point where they can carry that kind of play throughout the remaineder of the season. I'm not going to get too excited yet, this group has a long a** way to go before playoffs even enter their equation. But tonight was a step in the right direction.

Looks like the the healthy scratches and head games done by B. Sutter is working. Backlund and Stajan have come on much stronger since sitting out. Hopefully the same happens with Glencross.

Fair enough, and Babchuks number are respectable, however the first few games he played here he was invisible out there. But there is no question he has picked up his play over the last few games. Obviously there is going to be an adjustment period coming to a new team, but it looks as though he is settling in well. Hopefully the coaching staff can get him to be consistent with this play from here on in.

Big ups to Hemi-Cuda for finding this gem of a picture from tonight's game (posted on the main board)...

If you enlarge it, the writing on the numbers read:

"In your dreams Nelson", then Iginla's signature.

How about that Nazem Kadri? There's a top prospect if I've ever seen one! He's not even close to racking up the same amount of points as Stajan did in the league at the same age. These Leafs will never change, and I could care less.

Hopefully we can pound Minnesota during this home-home, that would be amazing.

Interesting stats. I'm glad you brought those up.

I didn't trash Babchuk when he was acquired, but I was trashing him on being invisible and completely useless as recently as a week or two ago. However, he has been playing a lot better lately and we're finally seeing that big shot we heard about when he was brought in. Good to see. Hopefully he keeps it up.
