Like I said, we called up Begin so we can bench Belak. Now if Trotz decides to play Begin on a scoring line then I am wrong and I will give Trotz a big facepalm
Wow. Hornqvist usually plays on the 4th line, couldn't go because of an injury. The permascratch, Belak, played in his place. Instead of going with Belak in for Hornqvist again tonight, they called up Begin to play on the 4th line. Got it now?

No need to get snippy. I can see what he is saying too. Its the same thing you said. (in bold) Sure he is replacing a player that replaced a player so ultimately is replacing Horny, but all he is saying is that Begin has been called up so we dont have to skate Belak.

That isn't what he's being saying though if you go back and read the posts. If Belak had been skating for the last 20 games that might make sense but since Hornqvist was a late scratch and we needed to dress 18 skaters, it was either Belak or Sulzer that would've gotten the call. SLake and 101 tried explaining this as well. Thought I'd break it down so it was a little more direct. It's not as if this person is a newbie and doesn't follow the team. If this were a new poster, I'd cut some slack but come on, really?

Begin can play hockey. It's defensively responsible, tough hockey with very little offensive threat in his game (although I did personally witness him scoring a goal this season) ... but he is capable of playing 10+ minutes if needed without becoming a detriment to the team. He won't help with the PP, but he gives us a 3rd PK specialist who is good at the dot. He also plays with an edge.

With him in the lineup rather than Belak, the team can skate 12 forwards for the entire game. Even at his best, Belak is usually in the 3-4 minute range and we essentially skate a man short for the entire game.

Okay yeah in re-reading it I do see your point. I skimmed too fast.

They are, Sully's wife and kids were 3 rows in front of us.

and don't tell me that, Seth, I was enjoying my happy thoughts of it not being bad. I already had to deal with Suter being gone.

Yes, was not impressed with his play vs. the Devils, I'm guessing he didn't play well vs. the Kings?

I thought Begin looked lost yesterday in New Jersey having not gone through training camp and having to learn our systems on the fly, but tonight it seemed to click with him a little that if he wasn't going to necessarily have all the systems down pat, he'd make an impact physically.

Lemme just say Ponikarovsky saw the check coming and turned his back at the last minute. Begin had no way to stop and Alex needs to be held responsible there too. Begin did not fully extend his arms on the hit and clearly tried to hold up, but was already too committed to avoid contact. That being said, he was taking a run at Ponikarovsky because he got confused in coverage and was late to get down on Alex P. after a switch.

Bottom line, I didn't see anything that warranted keeping him here right now.

Begin and Dekanich were re-assigned to Milwaukee after the game.

Ponikarovsky sold that call really well, I might add.

Begin played okay. He is what he is, a depth player with the ability to play the body and bring some energy. He served his purpose.
