Thread name: point, set, match. Might as well just close this one up now and get to the next one, I don't know what more we could say in 998 posts.

Gotta love the fans complaining about Renteria complaining about his most recent offer from the Giants.

1 MM to come back after a WS MVP...I get that he earned 18 MM doing pretty much nothing, but why bother offering a contract if it's as full of **** like this one? Renteria's got every right to be upset. In the end helped a team achieve the ultimate goal and the Giants are treating him like the soap in a dispenser that gets ignored by a ****** restaurant employee.

Isn't 1M what most players get if they are named WS MVP?

I'm curious, who said he was better? Did I miss something? Or is it just a running joke?

I can't speak to that as a constant number. I don't care enough to look into it but, if you do, Cott's probably has something on it.

The bottom line is it's not a reasonable contract offer at all, and it isn't even a palatable pseudo, non-interested offer. It's like that scene in A Beautiful Mind where Russell Crowe asks the blond at the bar what he has to say to get to fluid exchange with her...San Fran was just asking to get slapped.

Went shoppping at the Phils stadium store this morning, and met Ruben Amaro! He still seemed giddy, I shook his hand said congrats and thanks, he replied with a thank you for the support and happy holidays. What was he doing in there? With his daughter, buying Cliff Lee gear, of course!

LHP Pedro Feliciano moves from the Mets to the Yankees, so we'll see much less of him. Another win for us.

Yes it is... they're paying for next year, not what he did or didn't do last year.

Renteria is kind of cooked. That he had a nice run in the playoffs is good and all, but the goal is to get back to the playoffs and what is going to do fro 162 games?

Renteria is a bench player at this point, well into the decline portion of his career. His OPS the last three years has been .699, .635, .707.

No way. That's really cool.

I guess Dave Montgomery told Ruben to balance the budget and Ruben is getting creative, lol.
