If STO wants the Jackets, I'm good with that, but I bet they'll have a hard time getting them away from FSN, unless they REALLY, REALLY want them. And with the product the Jackets are serving up, I bet they don't.

All that's to say, you should be upset with the Jackets for being crappy. Not FSN.
You guys have really got to get off the STO thing. They are not on enough cable systems for the Jackets to be intetrested.

STO is available on most cable providers in the Cleveland, Columbus, Youngstown, and Toledo areas, as well as DirecTV and Dish Network in those areas.
STO was created by WKYC, Time Warner and the Indians to carry the Indians. The Jackets are not enough of a reason for cable systems in south of I-70 to clear STO when every Indians game would have to be blacked out in Reds territory.

Them be the facts

Out of 100% of the people who have TV's roughly 70% are not watching at any one time. So you have hundreds of channels competing for the remaining 30% that are watching at any time.

30%/300 channels means if every channel were watched evenly, all shows would have a 0.1 rating. Hense why a 1.39 isn't insignificant.

If I was joe business owner looking to advertise, I'd start at the shows with the highest rating in the market and work down. It all goes by ratings
Baseball also has 18 natural stoppages in play for 2 1/2 minutes that allows for commericals. That's why cable luvs baseballs. More inventory. More money. No other sport (sans the PGA in which replays are very common to allow commericals) has that much per game inventory over 144 broadcasts.

Giving Fox Sports Ohio some credit

This 30-minute show, hosted by FOX Sports Ohio Blue Jackets broadcaster Ray Crawford, will offer Blue Jackets fans a chance to revisit the top moments from the Blue Jackets’ previous week. Blue Jackets Slap Shots is a week-in-review show that will bring back interviews and highlights as the Jackets battle through the 2010-2011 NHL season. The show will also open up the archives to peer back at some of the moments and memories of the 10-season history of the Columbus franchise.

Goals against. Goal reviews. Apparently you've never watched CBJ hockey.

And what about the 2 twenty minute intermissions??

Bottom line: Hockey ain't that popular.

What are talking about?

A: Goals against Goal reviews are not scheduled TV time outs. Networks can't sell that. I've been in the media for 25 years and believe me, it was sellable it would be.

B: Intermissions are 17 1/2 minutes and I guess if FSN wanted to sell all 17 minutes, they could. No one would watch. And no one would buy it. Not sure what the exact inventory is during periods, but I got to think at max-- 5 minutes. That's 10 spots.

Ratings for baseball on cable are not great. But, it has more inventory. More inventory means more spots...more spots mean more money.

Bumped for blacking us out in the 2nd period. Regardless of how crappy the team was playing, this is unacceptable.

It was only on FSOhio. I lost the game also but changed over to FSCincy and it was on. (Dish Network).

Both the Buffalo feed and Columbus feed went down for me. I managed not to care a great deal, to be honest.

It's 2010. How come FSN can't get the Fox Box in the top left corner to show the time?

Because watching the Jackets at this point, the way they are playing, seems like an eternity in Hell

At some point when the ads were added to the plexiglass behind the nets by everyone, I first thought that those were there for real. And that was when watching other than FSOhio. When I first saw those ads made by FSOhio, I saw a player skate behind a Jeep sign Man, how can they actually make those so horrible and twitching all the time?

They are there to cover up the empty seats.

Expect to see NATIONWIDE IS ON YOUR SIDE across section 101/103 any day now.

The ads behind the goals are all horrible, doesn't matter who creates them (Fox Sports or Comcast).

I hate the Versus exclusivity window.

Nationwide arena is 3.5 miles from my door, but I can't watch the game that will be taking place there. The only hockey I could watch would be New Jersey vs Washington, a game I have no interest in.

**** you Versus/NHL tv agreement.

Watching the Jackets on FSN is becoming downright unbearable. Rimer and Davidge are edging closer and closer to passing Jack Edwards (Bruins on NESN) as the worst homer announcers in the league. It's just sickening some of the crap these guys are spewing game in and game out.

Don't mean to be flippant, but you could hike the 3.5 miles down to Nationwide if you don't want to watch the New Jersey game.

Maybe next time...

If Mase gets the start, I'm thinking you won't have trouble finding some coins in your couch to get a ticket off a disgruntled STH at the door.

Sad thing is, the couch has already been cleaned out on more than one occasion.
