Well time for the depth to show up..

Lets see if Mez can handle a bigger responsibility.

I feel much better about this then I would have last year. O'd and Mes are very much an upgrade to the filth we had last year. Not to mention Bob.

Even if Pronger is down, we still have Kimo. Its when Timonen goes down is where we start to freakout and figure out who we should pick in the top 5 in the draft

Homer, once again, "It is what it is."

Lol.....

I trust Kimmo. I think Coburn and Mez can step up.

Only thing I hate doing is messing up whatever chemistry the pairs have right now. Timonen-Coburn can take a large share of the minutes as-is, Mez-Carle could be an adventure, but I'd like O'Donnell with Bart.

I don't really get why Homer gets made fun of for "It is what it is" and "what can you do?". These are incredibly common phrases. People act as if they are Homer's invention and his response to everything.

Its the importance of WHEN they are used. When you lose your best player, lose a pretty important trade, and get called out for not knowing what your doing (cap), his "what can you do?" comment is more hilarious then professional.

In the context of this Pronger injury I ask....what can you do? Injuries happen. We're positioned to deal with an injury.

Then just say this. After all, that is what you do. Make it look like you know what you're doing.

I hear you but he did do that, so...I don't know. I just think it's kinda lame he gets made fun of for that haha. And I'm one of his "haters".

Which is fine. Like I said, time for the others to to earn their pay.

It's always stupid when someone says, "It is what it is." That means NOTHING.

I won't disagree, but people act as if it's something only Paul Holmgren does. And it does have some meaning. It's implying there's a situation in which you cannot do anything to change it. So it is, in fact, what it is, and nothing can change it. Is it the most eloquent thing ever? No, but Paul Holmgren, and most of the general population, is not eloquent.

What can you do?
I doubt Kimmo will be getting that much more workload, by the way. Just gotta hope that the others can step it up.
I'm looking at you, Matt Carle.

If we can't cope with Pronger out for a few weeks we're not really a contender. I think we'll do fine, and I hope Coburn steps up a bit now. I like that he's the one paired with Bartulis actually, I think Bartulis would work best with either Coburn or Meszaros.

If we were to call up another defender from the Phantoms for the trip out west, I think Bourdon would be a good choice. From what I've understood he's the most versatile of the guys down there. Don't know how he's looked on the ice this year though (I mean, I assume he's been pretty bad, but compared to the other guys down there). At least if Syvret has to clear waivers, which I believe he has to do (although, I doubt he'd be claimed, but it's an unnecessary risk to take).

At this point I'm only really concerned about making the playoffs (clinching a playoffs spot on the 82nd game isn't something my heart can handle again). I really don't care if we're the #1 seed in the conference or not, as long as we keep beating our Division rivals and we make it to the playoffs with a healthy well rested Pronger that's really all that matters.

I'm interested to see how Mez plays with top minutes though

Your right - Homer would be the first person to tell you, he is no genius. I also do not understand the reaction. It really isn't a big deal. It doesn't sound overly intelligent for grown men to call each other "Richie" and "Prongs" and "Cartsie" but who gives a crap.....

Critique the strategy and the job he is doing. Poking fun at a saying like "What can you do" and "It is what it is" is like poking fun at someone in the south for taking slow or someone in Canada for saying "Eh" and "How ya doing". It has nothing to do with their ability to do a job. It actually makes people sound dumb for making a big deal about it. IMO

I would think he'd try to get back after the second road trip. I am circling Jan. 18 at home vs. Washington. That's a full month.
