My favorite part was the Caps game against the Avs when Semin was kicked out for cross-checking J.M. Liles. Ovechkin goes to the referee for an explanation.....

OV: "What he cut him?"
Ref: "Yeah."
Ref: "Cross-checked him right here." (gestures to neck)
OV: "Yes."
Ref: "And it's ****ing cut wide open."
OV: "Well, he probably has sensitive skin, no?"

I could not stop laughing. It was so unexpected I couldn't regain composure.

The whole thing is apparently on youtube too, I watched it on NHL.com and they muted all the language. Youtube is probably uncensored but I haven't checked.

HBO sure struck gold with the Caps losing their 8th straight game tonight. Should be a very entertaining series. The NHL needs have this done more often.

I would love to see something similar during a first round playoff series. Follow both teams through the entire playoff series, that would be awesome.

What's more likely to happen with HBO still around? Boudreau being fired or Nabokov being signed? They talked about how the Caps were still changing when Boudreau came into the locker room and went on a tirade. It was as though they weren't listening or didn't care. I don't think it's fault, I think the Caps are built to be an exciting offensive team and opposing coaches have figured out how to stop them. If Washington wants to win they need to bring in players like John Madden to shore up the 3rd line and bring in stay at home defensemen. They have too much offensive skill and if you go up and down their depth chart finding a defensive specialist is impossible. Bringing in Nabokov would help more since you cannot just find bottom 6 forwards ready to play defense.

Watching Boudreau's interactions and speeches, I'm more convinced that Washington's past regular season success had more to do with the talent the team had more so than coaching. I think Boudreau let the players play to the players' strengths more so than coaching a system that leads to success. Just look at how the Habs coaching beat the Caps.

That was the first thing I thouight too. I'm surprised he hasn't been fired already, it seemed like the Caps weren't even listening to him and it wasn't that long of a losing streak when the first episode ended. I wonder how he is when they are winning?

It would be interesting to see how Tippett coaches, I think he would be more similar to Bylsma as a coach.

Seeing Boudreau interviewed with BBQ sauce smothered all over his face gave me the impression that he's probably not someone to be taken seriously (if you look at his local TV ads in the DC area, you'll be even more convinced of this).

Bylsma is the polar opposite, I thought he did a phenomenal job firing up his players and keeping them motivated and stay hungry to pursue more wins. The contrast between the locker room atmosphere between the Pens and Caps is glaring.

Well, BB had to have done SOMETHING right to turn that team into a (regular season) juggernaut at the very least. Maybe being undisciplined and not being held accountable for defensive errors maximizes the Caps' potential and their ceiling has been reached the way they are currently constructed. That's what it seems like to me, anyways. I doubt a coach is going to turn them into a SC winner. Becoming a defensive minded club might end up hurting them offensively; I mean, isn't that what they're "trying" to do this season anyways?

Just watched ep1 and I had to pause it right there I was laughing too hard. Love the Pens PSP tourney as well, and Dupuis(I think) randomly as he walks in "**** You, Geno".

It seems to me the Caps need a Mike Keenan or Ken Hitchcock if they want to win the Cup. On HNIC Radio they're guessing it will be Kevin Dineen.

It's such an amazing series. Wish the NHL had something like this every year!

If the ratings for HBO are good... they may.

I'm sure there are others like me who forked over $14 just to watch this series. One episode in and it was worth the money already.

They finished last weeks episode after the Sunday game. If the idea is that they shoot through Sunday, then edit and air Wednesday, we should see the Caps break their skid at the end of this next episode.

Very excited to see the next episode.

Did you guys realize that the song playing over the Caps riding the bus was the song that played over the scene when the Charleston Chiefs were riding the bus?

Obviously I'm a hockey fan, but honestly the drama and pain of watching the Caps go thru their losing streak, then the elation of breaking it transcends just hockey. Seriously, these two shows alone should make this series an award winner.

I watched the first one last night, and watched the second episode tonight, and all I can say is that the production is so clean, it makes what I already knew I'd enjoy just that much more of a pleasure to watch.

What stuck out the most to me fromthe whole show was how Matt Hendricks looked just beaten to a pulp. Between the shiner, the stitches and the blood in the eye, OUCH. Then I remembered thats the same guy who Simmonds decked two years ago at Frozen Fury and he took 10 stitches across the bridge of his fractured nose. What some guys will do to stick with a team and gain a spot, andd stay in the NHL is just mind numbing, at least that aspect of it was, to me anyway.

No comments for Mike green on a vespa? I was in disbelief... sprinkled in with giggles.

I thought show #2 was a bit of a letdown from show #1, but that was almost a guarantee. It was still thoroughly enjoyable to watch.

I was surprised a hotel (a Westin in Philadelphia, FWIW) had Versus in the room. I have a hell of a time finding that channel when I'm traveling.

Yeah, I did notice that.

And I also thought that when teams play on the west coast, most (if not all) hotels don't have VS or Comcast, and they certainly don't have NHL HD.

They'd have to sit thru an entire ESPN sportscenter to see 5 minutes of highlights.

You guys need to cut BB some slack. I live here in the Caps market and Bruce is a notorious goof. He does a bunch of local commercials for a local Benz dealership and supermarkets and is always haming it up. He also does it on the local news. He's also a huge (pun) prankster. Most, if not all of what you're seeing on 24/7 is him playing to the cameras. The skin tight shirt, the bbq sauce, the nut scratchin....its all goofing. Think "Dan Akroid" or "Robin Williams" not "Mike Babcock".
