Final Cuts Made

Ok, so even though BostonBruins.com hasn't announced the opening day rosters yet, the final cuts must have been made because opening day rosters were due to the league today...

According to TSN.ca's Boston Bruins page, their roster (last updated today at 5:42 p.m.) looks like this:

G
Potvin, Felix 29 G 6-1 195 A 6/23/1971
Raycroft, Andrew 1 G 6-0 184 A 5/4/1980

D
Boynton, Nick 44 D 6-2 212 A 1/14/1979
Gill, Hal 25 D 6-7 255 A 4/6/1975
Jillson, Jeff 23 D 6-3 224 A 7/24/1980
Jurcina, Milan 68 D 6-4 233 A 7/24/1980

Moran, Ian 18 D 6-0 204 A 8/24/1972
O`Donnell, Sean 21 D 6-4 227 A 10/13/1971

F
Axelsson, Per-Johan 11 LW 6-1 184 A 2/26/1975
Bergeron, Patrice 37 C 6-0 186 A 7/24/1985
Donato, Ted 40 LW 5-10 189 A 4/28/1969
Green, Travis 39 C 6-2 200 A 12/20/1970
Grosek, Michal 22 LW 6-2 219 A 6/1/1975
Huml, Ivan 36 LW 6-2 200 A 9/6/1981
Knuble, Mike 26 RW 6-3 226 A 7/4/1972
McCarthy, Sandy 10 RW 6-3 223 A 6/15/1972
Murray, Glen 27 RW 6-3 223 A 11/1/1972
Rolston, Brian 12 C 6-2 205 A 2/21/1973
Samsonov, Sergei 14 LW 5-8 180 A 10/27/1978
Samuelsson, Martin 43 RW 6-2 197 A 12/23/1976
Stock, P.J. 42 C 5-10 200 A 5/26/1975
Thornton, Joe 19 C 6-4 232 A 7/2/1979

Injured list: Girard, Lapointe, Zamuner

This adds up to 23, so I'm assuming this is it for tomorrow night's season opener. This must mean that Zinovjev is the last cut, as we all suspected.

Where does this put Huml in the line-up? 2nd line? And who would he be playing with?

This past week's lines:

10/7/03 - last practice
Samsonov – Thornton – Murray
Axelsson – Rolston – Knuble
Huml – Green – McCarthy
Bergeron - Stock - Grosek - Donato - Samuelsson

10/4/03 - game vs. New York
Huml– Thornton – Murray
Samsonov – Rolston – Knuble
Axelsson - Bergeron - McCarthy
Samuelsson - Green - Donato

10/2/03 - game vs. Detroit
Huml– Thornton – Murray
Samsonov – Rolston – Knuble
Axelsson – Bergeron – Zamuner
Samuelsson – Stock – McCarthy

I really have no idea what they're going to do...lots of parts & lots of different combos...

Does Jurcina suit up tommorrow night? Pretty amazing and I know many people really like him as a prospect, but he hasn't exactly gotten the glowing reports that bergeron has gotten this camp. Sure there have been some very good reports on him, but there have been many not so good reports as well

I detest the line of Huml-Green-McCarthy. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

Vexing problem on forward lines upcoming. When Zamuner returns, I suppose Sammuelsson is sent to Providence.

When LaPointe returns, and he's starting to skate, a lot will depend on how Huml fares in the first few games. Otherwise he'll be fodder for the demotion gun. Donato could be the alternate demotion.

If the B's decide to recall Zinovjev and Hilbert (after he's healthy), it could create a problem for Stock and one other forward. If Bergeron shows he's not ready for regular NHL duty it will make the decision easier.

Only 10 Forwards "Guaranteed" Jobs, IMHO

IMHO, only 10 of our fowards are guaranteed jobs.

The following 6 will be trimmed by a few to give us our 14 forwards as we have a, hopefully healthy squad.

* Stock, Samuelsson, Huml, Grosek, Bergeron, Donato

The following have jobs locked up, IMHO:

* Thornton, Samsonov, Knuble, Murray, Green, Rolston, Lapointe, Zamuner, McCarthy, Axelsson

4 more slots are their for the taking...as it appears they will go with 14 forwards!

I`d bet that Samuelsson is one who gets the drop to Providence. Bergerons future depends, or at least it SHOULD, depend on a solid start and proof that he is ready for the long haul!
