Right, and that's great. But do you agree that he's gone next year? Do you agree that we're not going to win the Stanley Cup? If so, then you've got to trade the guy and acquire assets.

I agree completely. he was a one year experiment that hasn't come off and hopefully will be able to get us something at the deadline.

The losing of Frolov will not change the dynamic of this team IMO, I just don't think he's been as terrible as a lot on here make him out to be.

I agree, but he's going to have very little trade value now with all this **** bout him bolting mid season to russia. Any gm looking in thinks he's a headcase who's putting up next to nothing and is full of himself.nobody is going to want a guy that could possibly be gone tomorrow.

It's obvious to anyone watching that Frolov's on his last legs in the NHL anyways. Similar to Kotalik, whatever it is that once made him successful in this league, just isn't cutting it anymore.

I've been seeing some improvement in his game over the past few weeks, but I won't lose any sleep if he decides to bolt.

Wouldn't a Rangers beat writer catch wind of this if it were true?

Wouldn't anyone other then some random Russian paper be reporting this?

I highly doubt the validity of any of these rumors.

The only reason to care about this, if it's true, is the potential to acquire a draft pick for him at the deadline.
That would be google translate

I still think people are overreacting on how bad he's playing... I think he's starting to step up his game recently.. and could continue this trend.

Try to trade him for something ASAP, even Olli Jokinen would be a better fit here.

As much as he's been a let down, Frolov has still been a good player on the third line.

It just blows my mind that me and others who supported Fro used the "he was on the third line most of the season' reason for his lowered production. I guess we see why now.... Either way, though, he's not the type of guy who's not good at the bottom 6. He's a benefit to this team even if he's been underachieving like crazy.

I actually thought he looked much better recently. More hustle... willing to go to the dirty places...

I know when the Rangers court a UFA in the summer they have this DVD presentation they send the player that tells all about the franchise, the original 6 stuff plus all the percs of NYC the Rangers great facilities etc....

I figure they must highlight Matteau Matteau Mattaeu in the DVD and Frolov took that wrap around move to heart...

I feel for the guy. He looks like he's trying, but perhaps he's not a good fit.

Rangers have ties to the KHL. If he wanted to go back to Russia they would probably help him...

I agree to an extent but what happens when Cally and Prospal come back?

If they came back tomorrow I think Frolov might get sent to the pressbox. I don't see who would sit over him right now except for Boog when Torts deems he's not needed.

Dubinsky, Anisimov Callahan becomes our second line, and then you can slot Drury anywhere in the bottom six.

When Prospal comes back, who knows. We don't even know if Prospal will be half the player he was last year since his injury was so serious.

Totally agree, I'm still fine with Frolov. Yes he is barely contributing offensively, but EVERYONE on the team with more points than him also averages more ice time. Couple that up with the plus 5 rating, and the fact he has only taken 3 minor penalties and I would never say he's hurting us in anyway. He even works the boards better than most our team.

Now if he had 2 more years on his contract after this one I may feel different, but thats not the case.

How about Frolov for Ryder or Ponikarovsky or Brunette or Steve Sullivan or Kovalev or Vrbata or Boyes or Simon Gagne?

Frolov won't be going back to LA.
Brunette is a possibility.
Steve Sullivan is 50x the player Frolov is.
Kovalev has high cap hit
Vrbata is 30x the player Frolov is
Boyes is 40x the player Frolov is
Simon Gagne provides more in terms of experience and leadership. Don't see Tampa biting the bullet.

sucks that we couldn't have tried to package him for an asset.

He serves a purpose on this team in terms of controling the play and puck retention.

Otherwise....cya

Only player on that list we could get for frolov straight up is brunette and that might even be a reach.

Frolov isn't going to Russia, this is just speculation that has boiled over since his comments to a russian media site about not getting enough ice time. Russian player + not happy = rumors of him going back to the khl. That being said , if in the off season he feels slighted by his time here i think he will sign with the khl.

I don't think he's going to Russia just yet, but it is in his very near future.

He simply cannot hack it at this level anymore. Yes, he tries out there, and I appreciate the effort, but he is not an offensive catalyst anymore. More of a wet blanket.

I was really excited about his signing, but Frolov will not be in the NHL for much longer, barring a huge offensive explosion.

He never really was. He's always been more of a two-way player. He benefited from playing with some decent playmakers in LA for a few years, and getting a lot of PP time. This team's best playmaker is a 20 year old rookie who is doing more goalscoring than playmaking right now.

I think Frolov can hack it just fine if you place the right expectations on him. Solid defensive game, great at moving the puck along the boards, and occasionally will contribute some offense if playing with good offensive players.

Yup, taking this with a grain of salt after the last tabloid nonsense article.
