couture with thornton could be a good match, thornton will finally have someone in the slot to feed pucks too because we all know patty wont go to the slot/net, and heater would finally have a chance to actually SNIPE what he was known to do back when he played out east.

Would Couture play left wing then? Or are you guys talking about on the power play (and still, where would he play)?

Was thinking something along the lines of Heatley-Thornton-Couture, with Marleau playing with Pavs and Clowe.

Couture is the only guy on the team that can deke. He's not like Datsyuk level or anything, but he can deke successfully on a regular basis. Pairing with JT isn't a bad idea.

This worked last year...and in the playoffs for a second. Heatley and Couture both like the slot and front of the net.

I can see them switching positions a lot and making it a lot harder on the opposition.

P.s. This Garner should really stop forcing articles....

When you play as much as he did and generally is the guy out there in the defensive situations double-shifting with other guys. I mean, some of his minuses are empty netters against and some are SH goals against and some are bad plays by people on the ice that are not him. He's definitely had his share of defensive breakdowns but it's not an accurate gauge of his defensive play either. If he was as bad as the stats make it look, he wouldn't be in those situations.

As for the Garner story, it's just more poorly thought out articles that do nothing but complain about the current scapegoat for the season. Suggesting the team should trade Marleau is just an exercise in whining and isn't anything constructive. Not to mention it's ludicrous to run a player out of town for a bad month or so and suggest that his best years are behind coming off of a career goal scoring season.
Here, here!

I would like to see a DH, JT, JP line and a second line of RC, LC, PM. The way couture and clowe play on the boards would open up some ice for marleau and I think jumbo can get pavs back on track.

No. When you are PKing (aka shorthanded) any goal scored against you does not affect your +/-.

But shorthanded goals against do, and I think that's what the guy you quoted was responding to.

We're sitting here, he's supposed to be our franchise player, and we're in here talking about slumping.

Man, this again? I suppose the next one will involve Montreal, for some players that the fans want to be rid of but who apparently have sky-high value.

Shorthanded goals as in when the scorer of the goal is shorthanded count.
