Count me as another who never believed the shoulder thing. I think it was a broken nose that sidelined him, and now he's feeling concussion symptoms, possibly from the fall. I don't think that punch gave him a concussion, it landed on the nose, not a spot that normally results in concussions.

Him better soon is only half the story. Once you get a concussion, it becomes more likely and easier to get another one.

How will we ever survive the season without his nightly heroics?

Maybe we can tape pictures of his smirk along the boards. However, we run the risk of delaying the game due to all the opposing players losing bladder and bowel control all over the ice.

They would also clash with the superimposed advertising.

guys, im not worried

just having him on our payroll is enough to make the meanest toughest enforcers in the league piss their hockey pants

that, or he's F*ing worthless and has had 0 effect on this season

either way, im not worried

What a coincidence, Today Prospal was cleared for full practice with the team on the ice and is doing so today, guess i wasn't off by much huh?

Boogaard is now out with a concussion

http://espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=2301

It has a brief note there saying he's out with a concussion.. so he isn't seeing a neurologist for a shoulder injury (If you caught that at the end of the last game where one of the announcers said in a confused and hesitant way "Boogard is going to see a neurologist tomorrow for a uh, shoulder injury i guess")

That's not good, concussions are one of the most pain in the ass injuries when it comes to things like timetables, and the longer boogaard takes to come back the more of todd white we have to see

Boogaard was going to be a healthy scratch the rest of the season, save a couple games once we were healthy anyways. No room for him.

Dubinsky-Stepan-Gaborik
Prospal-Anisimov-Callahan
Frolov-Drury-Avery
Fedotenko-Boyle-Prust

Christensen,

hell, we dont even have enough room for everyone as it is right now. This means more Zuccarello for now, not more White.

ESPN

I'll wait 'til one of our beat writers reports it but it wouldn't surprise me with the symptoms he's been reported to have.

Yeah, I could've of sworn there was already a thread about him having a possible concussion and he was supposed to see a neurologist today.

Worst part about this is if he gets smashed in the face again it's more likely to **** him up again.

Feel bad for the guy.

Banged up shoulder + a concussion. Damn, that's rough.

If that punch to the face gave him a concussion, that's going to be a problem for a guy we signed for 4 years to take and give punches, especially if taking punches puts him at risk for more concussions. The guy surely doesn't want to put his life in jeopardy each time he drops the gloves, it doesn't matter how much he's getting paid.

I certainly don't wish this to be career ending, or even season ending, but I'm not going to be upset if he doesn't see another game this year.

If only to prove the ridiculous claim this team is tougher only because of Boogaard wrong.

so what's the deal is he IR bound. Will he be back at all?

a Concussion to a tough guy is not good. He can't take head shots over and over again

sounds terrible but if he's hurt and can't come back I think the team is fine without him and it's alot of cash on the cap. Hope he comes back but a concussion to a enforcer is terrible. He would be useless if he did'nt fight

I understand where you're coming from in not spending so much on a talentless goon, but Scott never would have worked here. Do you see his average ice time in chicago? Its 6mins. There is no way we could get away with having a guy like that on our third pairing. Its a different story when you have guys like Keith, Seabrook, Campbell and Hjallmerstrom as your top 4. We could have searched out a teams AHL rosters for a goon, like Westgarth from LA, someone along those lines. I agree with your point 100%, just not your example.

I found this -- boogaard already has a long history of concussions

No wonder professional athletes have a much higher risk of dementia, alzheimers and what have you later on, you got guys who are 28 going onto their 4th concussion already, and it's not like boogaard is a very rare case, there's tons of guys who have multiple concussions by the time they're 30.

The question is -- Why was boogaard given a 4 year contract knowing he's prone to concussions? I didn't know that, but the GM signing a player should know his injury history.

You dress him as a winger like the hawks are doing and if a d goes down or get hurt he is ready to step in. Scott was perfect for ny
