Theo Peckham for Matt Gilroy

Thought of a trade that makes sense...Theo Peckham for Matt Gilroy.

Most fans want to drive Gilroy out of town themselves but I do not think he was really given much of a chance to succeed, with that being said, he doesn't seem to have a future with the Rangers...let's ship him out to our Edmonton connection and get a big, rugged, mean dman in return.

What do you guys think?

Why would Edmonton do that, and why do you want tough guys that can't do anything but be tough?

Not even close.

They'd have to throw in Hall or Eberle

Done from the NYR perspective but good luck with the Oilers getting on board.

My thoughts exactly. Why do we need Peckham? He's not good enough to play in our top six either, and I think I'd rather have Gilroy in a game if someone gets injured than Peckham.

This is ridiculous. Why would the Oilers do this in a million years?

I read the thread title, thought to myself "Who would EVER do that?", and then looked at who started it.

Understood.

But really, terrible proposal. Peckham is garbage.

You clowns are so funny...in one breathe Gilroy is garbage but now when I make a prospal he is not garbage.

In another breathe you say Oilers would never give up Peckham but he sucks in another.

Gilroy is not going to crack our top six...why not ship him off and get something in return...

Peckham too tough for you guys...if I suggested Jan Hejda, you would probably all hug with joy and think he would be the perfect solution.

You seem to think that tough = good. Hejda is a good defenseman. Peckham is not.

I knew I nailed it...you guys are as predictable as I am.

I want someone to clear the crease and to add snarl.

Watch the Pens vs. Coyotes game and that is a complete team. A team built with talent and some of the meaniest, nastiest guys in the league.

Why do u think Crosby never gets touched?

What did you "nail"? You have yet to explain why Hejda would be a bad addition.

I assume you're talking about a player like Orpik.

Peckham is not on the same planet as Orpik.

And we don't need to worry about "protection". I have yet to see Gaborik attacked (don't even mention the Carcillo incident, where HE dropped the gloves first).

We have plenty of tough players. Dubinsky, Callahan, Girardi, Staal, Eminger, Sauer, Boyle, Prust, Boogaard, and Fedetenko can all be classified as tough. You don't need full blown goons to be a tough team. You seem to think this for some reason.

Look at the Penguins roster and get back to me...

Hejda is exactly the type of dman we do not need.

Our team is gritter but far from tough..

The are specifics roles on each team, you have scorers, grinders, checkers and guys that will hand you your teeth, I am not trying to create a team of just goons.

Gilroy seems to be an outcast on this team...which, I think is a shame because there is talent there...but if you are not going to use him, might as well as try to get something in return.

There is not one guy who will make you pay for getting in Hank's way...Staal, Giradi, Emminger, Sauer and even MDZ will hit you but they will not punish you for your sins.

Sauer is valiant but not best suited.

Look @ the Pens, Deryk Engelland is destroying people...why is that bad to have on your team....

I am not saying trade Giradi for Mike Commodore...I would like more snarl on the back end.

Why do we "not need" Hejda? He's a very good positional defenseman - something this team could use instead of MDZ in the top-4. You keep saying "look at the Pens", and I certainly have. I've watched about 25 Penguins games this season, and Derek Engelland is certainly not the reason they're so good. Peckham isn't even near as tough as him, though. He's also pretty terrible at what his job really is, playing defense.

A guy who can play and destroy people is not bad at all to have. Boogaard, on the other hand....

Right, so Engelland deserves no credit at all...yet, he still gets the call from the coach to play.

Hejda and Rozy on the same defense...no thanks.

Uh, I'm pretty sure Crosby and Letang are the reason why Pittsburgh is 2nd in the league in points. Not Engelland fighting.

Yeah! Let's play Engelland and Carkner in our top-4 instead of two solid dmen!

OP cares more about fights and scrums than the actual game itself.

NEWSFLASH: Adding toughness won't make us a more complete team. Adding talent though, (either up front, or back-end) will.

No everyone is mentioning how he is garbage and that the oilers would never make this deal because he is garbage. Get it now?
