Still plenty of time to turn this trip around... Anyone else think we're likely to see Auld on Thursday? Not blaming Price, but a few days off certainly won't hurt.
I'd say Price Thursday and then Auld vs. Islanders.

God I miss having a number 1 defenseman who moves the puck.

It's not positivism so much as something I realized about blowouts over the years, for or against.

Sometimes a team just IS that much better than the other throughout the game. But there's too much parity in the NHL for that to be very common. Usually, blowouts are just one team scoring five goals on ten chances and the other 2 on 20.

hahaha, OTR - Landsberg was hilarious.

Told Craig Button to pretend to be Gustavsson and threw a waffle through his five hole.

"Through the wickets!"

Oh, sure, it hurt the team. But AK wouldn't have made the difference. The reality is that it was just a classic blowout. One team gets a lot of goals on not very many chances, the game goes out of control, and before you know it it's garbage time. The goalie has a bad night, bounces or just not in it. Or whatever.

These games happen during a season and they're completely meaningless. They are not the result of a genuine differential in quality of play. Montreal could just as easily blow out Carolina next game.

Shot attempts tonight: 72-38. For Montreal. And the shot chart in nhl.com is worth a look. It's not like Dallas controlled the play all the time. It's a normal tendancy to think that the team that is a lot behind in the score got pasted in all phases of the game, but hockey rarely works that way.

These games are hard on morale though. Now is not the time for JM to make another boneheaded panic move. Good lines, good match-ups, stability, this is what will pull the Habs out of the hole. His ham-fisted approach will only make things worse.
I tend to agree, but as you alluded to it doesn't take long before bad bounces lead to ****** performances. They need to turn this around before the Xmas break.

Another tough game Thursday against a rejuvenated Carolina, a team that has historically given us fits...

It's possible. I think it'd be a good idea to have Auld in on Thursday, and if he plays well give him the next game against the Islanders as well. Then, Price should be good and rested for another long stretch.

I wasn't able to watch the game. I see we outshot them 29-17 and lost 5-2. How the heck did that happen? 5 goals on 17 shots?

Remember before they got there and were just a pain in the butt that we always ended up beating no matter what?

Sit Picard.
Sit Gorges. (Guy clearly needs a break.)

Play Weber.
Call up some kid who can hit, and will hit everything that moves for the 2-3 games he plays. (Names?)

1st goal was tipped 1 foot from from the net, 2nd goal was a breakaway, 3rd goal was a mess in front of the net where Price thought the puck was under him, 4th goal was tipped by Gorges in the net, 5th goal was a perfect setup from Ribs to Eriksson in the slot.

Price was poor tonight.
Gorges, Picard, Gill and Spacek were all soft tonight. We need a re-vamp of the defensive corps (and it will come this summer).
Subban is just becoming a circus. Bad penalties, and the brother needs to learn how to throw them. His confidence is really low right now.
We have 8 or 9 players that play in the bottom 6 whom if it were not for their different last names, you would not be able to tell them apart based on the way they play. Too many bodies that do the same damn thing night after night. 3rd an 4th line players need to bring energy and change tempo. I do not see any of that with this club.

No guts, no grit = no win.

Gomez, Gio the only noteworthy contributors tonight.

That is all.

It was pretty ironic how 2 guys that the Habs have mishandled and let go for peanuts were killing us tonight while the same thing is happening to Kostitsyn.

You think you could doctor that video a little? It almost looks like Picard is trying to punch Morrow in the gonads. If it was proven we could get him suspended for at least a game so JM would be forced to play Weber.

Terrible.

The habs just let the best player on the team get hit...

Ryan White has the same thing Markov does.

I called this after the Leaf loss. Back to fighting for 8th by January. Might have been premature since we could be 9th by then. Carolina game is a must win. They trail us by 6 pts. with 2 games in hand. This team is falling apart. When you see Subban, you understand why prospect never pan out here. Don't exonerate yourselves. All the Hab fans mad pressure gets to the players when they're young. If they're able to sneak under the radar (Plekanec) they become key players but overall, we're just too small and too thin on D to win games when the effort isn't there. Price isn't making miracles happen so the focus will probably go to him since, y'know everyone losing streak in Habland falls on a goalie somehow.
