I am so high on both of them right now. Especially Dumoulin. I really envision him as McBain's future d-man partner on the first pairing for years to come.

What is also very cool is that Austin Levi was under consideration as well as Mark Alt for Carolina. With any luck, we could have had 4 of the Top 6 defenders for Team USA this year.

I am excited for Brian Dumoulin, but even more for Justin Faulk. I think anybody in our fanbase that hasn't seen him this season is going to be in for a real surprise. He leads the Nation in goals by a freshman defender with 5 and has 12 points in 16 games on the year while leading the #2 ranked UMD Bulldogs in plus minus at +13.

He's going to be a staple on the first PP unit likely with a guy like Derek Forbort. Dumoulin, as well as the two other Boston College defenders on the preliminary roster, should be in more shut down roles.

I think Faulk has what it takes to be a really big break out player at the games this year.

Somebody tell Maurice to lend Skinner to team Canada. He could have been this year's Jordan Eberle in the tournament. CLUTCH.

Rasmus Rissanen and Tommi Kivisto are on the preliminary roster for Finland. Not sure if we have anyone else out there in the mix.

Mattias Lindstrom for Sweden. Even though he's not exactly having a stellar season offensively due to missing last season with knee problems. He's more a grinder type anyway.

edit: wait, I misread that, it said Lindberg (Yotes prospect), not Lindstrom

So stoked to watch the WJC again this year. It seems like every year the USA prospects get better and better. I won't say the Americans should be the gold favorites this year but they should easily medal, and I'll be very disappointed if we don't.

Prospect wise, I've only been able to watch Faulk once and Dumoulin twice so far this season, so I'm really anxious to see how they match up against the best of the world in their age group. Hopefully all 4 of our prospects involved (provided they make the final roster, of course) will have great tournaments.

Dumoulin, Faulk, Sanguinetti, Alt, Levi, Jordan, Biega, Kivisto, Rissanen and Stahl. I'm excited for the future of our defense. Most of them are still a ways off from the NHL, if they ever do get here, but if even half of them pan out and make NHL contributions I think most of us will be happy.

I'm pumped to watch this tournament, if its anything like last year it'll be a blast. Also its a good way to check out some guys who I would never get to watch otherwise. Anyone else think USA has a surprisingly easy bracket? IMO they can definitely beat everyone in their group, provided they dont take anyone too lightly, and play to their full potential.

The problem with easy pool play is it makes the elimination games that much more difficult. That is, of course, if the other pool is indeed stronger.

They just announced the roster, and both Faulk and Dumoulin are on the team. Should be a great tournament for Canes fans.

USA opens up the day after Christmas against Finland, so we'll get to see all 4 prospects together right off the bat.

Any chance they're on the same pairing? They'd really be doing the Canes a favor if they were...

Congrats to both of them! The US team is stacked on D, man, between Dumoulin, Faulk, AND Forbert... This'll be great, hopefully they win it again!

It seems like they're going to be trying to play Faulk with Merrill. Consecutive picks in 2010 with Faulk going first and Merrill going shortly after him. They're two guys that are expected to be break out stars at these games.

Dumoulin is going to be playing a more defensive role and will likely see extensive time matched against the opposing team's best forward group and on the penalty kill. I could see him with Forbort and being virtually impossible to create sustained pressure on.

Justin Faulk just teed one up from the point on the powerplay to put the USA up 1-0 with their first goal of the tournament.

Does anyone know what numbers Kivisto and Rissanen are? I can't really read any of the jerseys unless I get lucky and they show a close up. However I did catch that Faulk is #25 and Dumoulin is #4. It looks like Dumoulin is paired with Leddy and Faulk is playing with Merrill, both at even strength and on the PP.

Brian Dumoulin picks up an assist on a Chris Brown goal as the US is up 4-1 on Slovakia.

Anyone know why the Buffalo crowd is booing Emerson Etem? Is it typical Buffalo behavior, or all the &%$#ing Canadians in the stands?

They even booed his goal announcement.

Because Etem called Buffalo a poor city or something like that. He pretty much trashed Buffalo.

Ah the paradise of Medicine Hat. Why can't people take pride in town and still realize it sucks.

I know it was a rhetorical question, but c'mon...we're talking about people from Buffalo here.

... come on now, you're talking like we're dealing with a rational fanbase here. We've seen how they get when their team is any good.
