Someone on NHL Live just called in and said Lombardi's shopping for a defenseman.

Truth or BS?

If its true it is a very very recent thing.

I would call it BS and by a stretch in my opinion.

Bringing in another D would mean that A Mart Drewskie Muzzin Voynov etc aren't up to snuff yet and that just isn't the case.

Also if we bring in another D and that player isn't a pending UFA it would hand cuff us to a certain extent.

WM/RS/MG/DD/JJ and new guy means that none of our kids get their shot and we have a few of them who might take that is a bad thing and could cost us.

I don't buy it.

If he is shopping for a dman, then it means Greene or Mitchell are really ****ed up and going to be out for most of the season a la Scott Parse...

To make it worse, Hammond hasn't given us an update on either player in a while.

I'm about to go post this on his site... see if I can prod him into doing some digging.

If that's the case, Buffalo is ripe for picking. Montador and Rivet are available.

Who knows what'll happen if he makes it to FA?
Good points, sir.

ESPN.COM: Scott Burnside recently suggested the New Jersey Devils should consider shopping goaltender Martin Brodeur, believing he’s their most valuable asset whom teams like Washington and Tampa might be willing to pursue…Kings GM Dean Lombardi’s “Willie Mitchell” experiment hasn’t worked out and could push him to add more defense prior to the February 28th trade deadline…

I said this awhile back, Kings need a a #7 guy who has some more, size, NHL experience and is more of a stay at home guy than Harrold. Most of our prospects are offensive guys, so if a Greene, Scuderi, or Mitchell goes down the Kings are left looking at Drewiske or even Campbell or Teubert (one is barely 20 years old and the other might be a career AHL'er). Hickey, Voynov, Martinez, Mullen are all offensive D man and we already have DD, JJ and Harrold.

I think this is the year Drewiske gets dealt for a veteran dman.

I'd target guys like Rivet, Montador, Carkner, McCabe, Allen, Sarich, Staios.

Rivet possibly, Montador possibly, Carkner, I think Ottawa really likes him.

McCabe, Allen - McCabe is liked over there esp without Ballard, Allen idk, everyone always says he doesn't play mean enough for his size.

Sarich, Staios - Please no especially with those salaries.

I believe both Sarich and Staios are UFA's after the season.

Isn't Carkner the guy that pulled the net off before we (Simmonds?) scored a goal?

Greene's on the ice today for practice. Methinks Mitchell is out longterm.

Why would they have kept him on the road trip and had him getting treatment then? I feel that they would have sent him home if he was out long term.
