I think top 6 for this guy a good line to play with is def the pack line in place of Cally although if he's as heady as everyone says Stepan and him may also do very well together. Hope he cana djust to the pace and that his skating is up to snuff. I remember him not being speedy but being in people's faces and making some nice plays.

Except that two days ago Andrew Gross quoted Tortorella saying that there was no timetable for Prospal's return, but that mid-January was likely. Prospal hasn't been skating regularly since September.
And this just in from the latest post at Ranger Rants (thank you Andrew Gross):

Meanwhile, Vinny Prospal, still pegged by the team for a mid-January return, said he was not wearing a non-contact jersey just to fill in with Gaborik not able to practice. Tortorella’s blunt assessment of Prospal’s practice performance: “He stunk.”

“I was just filling in,” said Prospal, still breathing hard and sweating several minutes after leaving the ice. “On the one hand, it’s always great to be able to skate. But, right now, I’m really hurting. I can’t catch my breath. I’m at the beginning. I’m nowhere near where I need to be."

Prospal is not going to play in any games for the rest of the year.

Dubinsky – Anisimov – Drury (as close to the Dubi – AA – Cally line you can get)

Avery – Stepan – Zuccarello (Avery and Stepan have serious chemistry, throw in Zuccarello a great skill player)

Frolov/Prust – Boyle – Fedetenko (has been one of the better lines recently for NYR)

Prust/Frolov – Christensen – White

im a little concerned about what i read about his skating issues. ill be curious to see how he looks out there and if he can keep up. my biggest concern with him was always his size and his ability to be an impact offensive player in the nhl.

his offensive skill should help our top 9. i would like to see him on the pp with gaby as well. his passing skills are top notch and that will make us better.

im pretty sure gaby will play. a sore groin isnt anything to worry about at this point.
Thats the one thing worries me about him too. A guy like St Louis can fly. Being that small and not a great skater is not a good combination. Hopefully Torts gives him powerplay play time and plays him on the 1st or 2nd line. I'm really interested to see how he does. Hopefully he plays well this team could use his playmaking skills.

To simple, to logical, too much chemistry, no way torts this or puts Avery on the second line.but in all seriousness I like those lines and deffinitally like aves and dstep together

Why not also recall Weise? He just scored a goal and has 12 points in 14 games this season.

Weise is way more useful than White. His fight was the highlight in the loss to Flyers.

I agree... the kid did pretty well in his first nhl game against the best team in the league. White will not even be noticeable on the ice...

"John Tortorella as saying he belives Marian Gaborik is only day to day and rest should fix his groin issue.

He also says he wants to put Mats Zuccarello in offensive situations."

I would actually be interested in seeing this:

Dubinsky - Anisimov - Drury
Boyle - Stepan - Zuccarello
Fedotenko - Christensen- Prust
Frolov - Avery/White- Avery/White

I would love to see how Boyle does on the wing with a playmaking center.

Same. I don't care if he scores, but I'd like to see consistent play and him creating chances.

if zucco catches crosby and finishes with the same amount of points as him in like 30 less games, does he get the hart this year or does crosby win it on reputation?

How he plays tomorrow really depends on how Tortorella uses him. If he gives him powerplay time, + 1st/2nd line time, he could be a big threat offensively. However, if he plays MZA on the 4th line he's ultimately useless, considering at 5'7 he's hardly a grinder.

Considering the guy he's supposedly replacing, it'd be ideal for the former to happen.

Actually, I forgot about Frolov. So disregard that.
Avery's been one of our better players lately. Not sure what makes you think he'd get sent down, especially when MZA's never even played a game in the NHL.
