Avery sent down? Hell no. Just saying with the way things have gone, he could be relegated to the press box.

I don't want it to happen, but if Todd White is getting into games, who knows what Torts will do next.

I know you don't like Christensen, but if anyone other than Gaborik has chemistry with him, it's Avery. Would be kind of stupid to put our three best playmakers in Avery, Christensen and MZA on the same line, however.

Zuccarello sucked in pre-season, so I'm hoping to see more tomorrow night.

I guess Gabby's groin issues explains his play lately.

those were his first, second and third games in North America. he's way more used to the ice than he was in September.

Groin issue? Did something come out that i am missing? Sorry late to the party i know.

Really excited to see MZA play and for anyone who thinks avery might get sent down, that is not even a remote possibility. If avery was sent down, i believe, if he returned to the club, the rangers would be on tap for his entire 4 mil cap hit

Here's what you missed - The Rangers were so desperate to have an elite player because of draft misses and dismal free agent signings that they went out and threw a boatload of money at the guy who has the most risk attached to him of any elite player in the world simply because he was a UFA. When the news broke of the signing it was initially reported at 5 years and 5.75 million per year which made sense because he was coming off a season where he played around 20 games and the other big signings in the offseason were in that same ballpark (Sedins, Cammelleri). At that price (with a "injury discount") it was a risky but necessary signing. Then the report changed to 5 years and 7.5 million per year. Great, now we just made an incredibly risky signing and gave him more money than all but 5 or so players in the league. Oh, and most Rangers fans will lead you to believe that he came here for some other reason besides money but that is hogwash. Sather was as desperate as they come and it was either going to be Heatley or Gaborik on Broadway. So he gave Gaborik more money than other teams were willing to.

So now we just have to cross our fingers that the man is not only able to be in the lineup, but that he can play at 100% of his abilities which we have not seen this year. Last year was the aberration. That's why he put up career high numbers.

I consider it a faulty blueprint when you go through all these growth years (bringing up and developing the youth), and then when they are finally a well oiled machine, the motor, the main cog, Mr. Gaborik, is rusty and worn-down.

Well done Glen.

I updated the thread title to reflect Gaborik's status, since many people hadn't heard it elsewhere.

People don't spend the time to accurately follow a certain player. I watched all the preseason games (attended two games) and got to watch him quite a bit... he did not suck. Wasn't great, but the guy was still trying to adjust.

I hope nobody has high expectations for him, otherwise they will be let down. Lets hope we see him feel more comfortable, allowing him to do his thing.

I hope he takes the opportunity and makes the most of it. Imagine the Garden one day chanting "Hobbit ... Hobbit"?

Avery is going to be in the lineup. He adds grit and energy he just might be in a 4th line role permanently. When everybody is healthy and if Zuccarello plays well which is a big "if". IMO the two guys that will be losing their spots are Frolov and Christensen.

I think the lines would look something like this
Dubinsky-Stepan-Gaborik
Zuccarello-Anisimov-Callahan
Prospal-Boyle-Fedotenko
Avery-Drury-Prust

But don't you remember? Rangers doctors checked him out?

This was my argument during the period when it became clear we were going to sign him. The injuries associated with the glassman are one thing, but the lack of heart is another. The slightest breeze blows him over...what a hockey player...

And to think, most were calling his contrac a steal.

our porcelain doll scorer is injured again? This guy is a nightmare come true. how are we ever supposed to get excited about this guy?

when he's not producing you always worry if he's hurt and when he is playing well you always worry if he'll stay healthy.

You ever see this guy in street clothes? practically zero muscle on his frame. The hit armstrong put on him would have given any other player a sore shoulder, with Gabs it's a separation, which it looks like he hasn't fully recovered.

This guy is way too fragile to be taken seriously anymore.

what good is having an elite sniper that can drop out of your lineup
at any minute?

If the right package came along i'd move him.

Gaborik is WORTHLESS. Trade that garbage contract to the Leafs for Orr, Komisarek, and Grabovski.

Hell, forget that. Burke would never do that. Gaborik isn't TRUCULENT or PUGNACITY enough for him. We could MAYBE get a 4th. Maybe.

go for it! I'm half serious here. I want the guy to do well just like anyone else. I think he's a great player, but how can you go forward with any confidence with this guy? he's our only true top six player and the catalyst to any true offense for this team, and he's an injury away from being out of the line up at any given time.
