Some Canes fans were complaining about having both Cole and Larose on the first line.
Still it will not hurt the player carreer and development and every coaches do that with young players/rookies even if some fans here are crying when Martin does that.

For me it's not about development so much as having the most talented lineup possible. I abhor the overuse of crappy veterans just because they're veterans.

Well in the case of the hurricanes that here was in need of a goal in the third and Skinner wasn't playing good minutes I can understand that. Anyway it's not my point, I'm not saying it was a good or bad decision in the context I was pointing to some people that others coaches does that when rookies and young players aren't playing their best and when some veterans are playing better hockey. SOme people on the board think only Jacques Martin does that and that's a crime that will forever destroy the development of the player which is completly false.

No, he's not the only coach to do it, and any of them who do are infuriating. It's like they're too scared to bench veterans.

Honestly I would say that ALL coaches does this and theres is reasons to that, when all paid proffessionnals does something there is reasons it's not that they are all wrong and the fans are right.

AKost isn't precisely a rookie at this stage of his career.
But there's an important reason coaches don't bench top-line players: they need them. Bench even AKost and not only do you need to replace him with a worse player but it messes up your matchups. Eller on the top line weakens the Plekanec line (Eller isn't as good as AKost) and it weakens the fourth line (Pyatt isn't nearly as good as Eller either). It makes it really hard to get favorable matchups, and that's just AKost. Even if Gomez had deserved a benching (he didn't), removing him from the lineup would have crippled the Habs' matchup ability.
The same applies to the D-men. The Habs are short on top-4 D-men as it is, and they're starting to feel it now. The Markov injury is starting to tell. Removing another top-4 vet would be suicidal at this point.
Just got back from the Devils-Islanders game, had a good time there. Perhaps better that I missed this game and only saw the result by the sounds of it.
Well, on to Long Island for the Islanders. It should practically be a home game, so hopefully we can win for all the fans travelling.
