He should wipe his mouth before talking next time to make it less obvious where it's been.

Maybe he has him mixed up with Brian Gionta's brother who is also in the AHL.

Not anymore for the Devils. I was at their game tonight and someone else was in his #14 jersey...I think they sent him back down? Not sure...

Did Staal get an unsportsmanlike for acting like a 9 year-old?

Ugly game, but I'll take the 2 points.

There are some things that have kinda eroded from montreal's game lately.

First and foremost, the forwards aren't supporting their D with backside pressure very well, which is exposing the lack of mobility at the back end. Hamrlik is slowing down in the middle of the season, and gorges simply doesn't look 100%. Spacek, Gill, and Picard are doing their thing and you cant expect a whole lot more out of them but Hammer and Gorges especially need to play at their very best.

On the offensive side of things, there just seems to be a disconnect. Simple passes are not being executed tape to tape and there's just a general lack of killer instinct around the net. Hats off to the guys that are bringing the intensity required shift after shift, particularly Plekanec and Darche, but its going to take more than a couple guys on board to manufacture enough goals.

It looks like the habs have kinda hit their dog days for the season. Hopefully, its nothing more than that.

I have to say one thing. Signing Plekanec was the best move this team ever made. Man, that guy is amazing. You can depend on this guy in any given situation. Throw him out whenever and he'll get the job done.

Gaston Therrien should move to Australia and stay there. No wait, I like Australia. Make him move to Afghanistan.

Ugly win, as all have said, but hugely important one none the less. Could NOT afford to start this road trip 0-3.

The elephant in the room at this point is the poor play of our defense. Yes, we're fine on the penalty kill, but the number of blatant disgusting defensive giveaways we seem to have every game is unacceptable. Spacek needs to go. Weber, to me, is not full-time duty ready as more than a #7. Picard is serviceable, but again should not be a regular everyday defenseman, and I hope he is not re-signed / is upgraded for next year. Subban needs work, but he needs to play regularly paired with a reliable veteran.

Gorges, Gill, and Hamrlik are all fine d-men, but Gorges has been off his game lately (possibly due to injury) and age and wear and tear are getting to the other two.

IMO a move has to happen sooner rather than later to bring in another quality defenseman to avoid overtaxing these guys for too long of a period of time.

Unfortunately, we have to assume that Markov is gone for good. He'll never be the same player and is extremely injury prone now. Anything we get out of him is a bonus, we can't count on him for anything at this point.

I agree. I wasn't so sure at first, but he obviously worked on his skating, the guy is flying out there. And just improving all the time. Usually when someone signs a big contract they go back into their shell..Pleks not so much.

I can't wait for Markov to return next year to show all the flaky Habs fans just what an elite athlete he is/still is.

I wonder why a lot of people said that was an ugly win. I didn't watch the whole game, but based on the # of shots in the first and second periods, Habs seemed playing very well, no ? As for the third period, it's normal that the trailing team shoot more.

It doesn't excuse his total lack of defensive responsibility and his non-shot. Or his terrible start to the year which contributes to Plekanec being overworked and underperforming later (namely, recently).

Unless he maintains a PPG pace until the end of the season, this will be a very disappointing year for Gomez and Habs fans.

It's very unlikely ANYONE on the Habs maintains a PPG pace...hell, it's only happened once in the last 15 years or something like that...unreasonable to think that.

PPG pace until the end of the season < PPG for the season. Gomez had 40ish points in 50ish games last year from the midway point on, he can do it again but a bit better if he wants to prove himself worthwhile.
