They were very sloppy with the puck until Murray changed 3 of the 4 lines in the third. The team finally woke up after the Oilers made it 2-1.

Meh. I have seen worse games. I'm just going to enjoy it.

Wow, they just showed a nice toe save by Doughty. Nice.

Favorite thing about this win: it puts the Ducks into 9th

Edmonton is going to be something else in a couple of years.

Which means we just HAVE to win the cup this year.

Period.

... Edmonton played a great game tonight, but the Kings still played well enough to beat them. If not for the soft goal allowed to Hall, the Kings had a regulation win. Quick did well in the shootout to redeem himself, though.

I'm alright with Johnson being first star of the game, but Stoll and Kopitar played just as well. Handzus' little pass to Williams in the second was my highlight of the night; just goes to show how smart Michal is. That was a thing of beauty.

Ponikarovsky and Brown were tremendous on the forecheck, opening up space for their linemates when they did.

The Kings directed 66 shots at the Oiler net tonight, while the Oilers directed just 50 at the Kings' net - gives a bit of an idea who was controlling the play, and where. The big difference was that Edmonton had 22 blocked shots, an outstanding total.

The effort was certainly not lacking for the Kings, they just went up against an aggressive and better-skating (though erratic) opponent, who gave them a tough game.

Have you been watching the Devils?

I'm just disappointed with the lack of focus recently. The Kings have shown how good they can be when they are focused and make crisp passes. There were a lot of pucks into players skates again tonight and that kills the Kings attack.

Merry Christmas everyone! Shellz got her present early tonight.

I have to admit that I groaned when I saw Stoll skate out there for the shootout. Especially given the size of the goaltender, how far he was coming out, and how Stoll has never deked in his life, but I am glad it worked out the way it did Very pleased with our performance this season as a whole.

Brown was clutch with his shootout goal.

Quick doesn't get a chance to win it without that goal to tie it after three rounds.

I haven't. I can't laugh at them anymore. It's actually pretty pathetic. I mean, I still laugh but still, haha.

I agree though. The focus comes in and out with the Kings. I was really happy to see them respond back with the second goal. But, the Oilers seem to be a problem with the Kings lately. It's almost like play down their talent with bottom teams. That might be me though that thinks that. It's also a game back home and teams always seem to have trouble with that. It's not really an excuse, it's just what happens. I think the focus for the Kings is going to be up and down for awhile.

Kings deserved this win. We are a much more dynamic team than the Oilers. However our team passing was garbage all night and against better opponents that wouldn't fly.

**** Peckham. First time I wanted to see Westgarth all season was after his third cheap shot on Williams in as many shifts. What a burly *******. He brutalizes us and was the oilers defense.

... Well, first to 81 anyway. A bit misleading to compare him to Tom Webster, though.

It was on the Paajarvi shot that hit the post. During the game I thought he just shot it off of the post, but the post-game replay showed Doughty block it with his skate into the post.

I'm not sure about this board as much, but many times the main board people exclaim how the "gimmick" is getting old. When clearly many of the fans love what it brings to the game. Not to mention keeping lots of teams in contention for a while...I mean Oilers fans still think they have a chance at the playoffs right now.

well that's the thing... it is a gimmick and it's influencing parts that it shouldn't... most won't argue it doesn't create a ton of excitement for fans... just that it has no place being there in the first place..

... and it wasn't a "high stick" either, YES Scuderi got hit in the face, but because he was down so low to the ice, the Oilers guy stick was only 2-3 ft. off the ice at most, and Scuds had his back to the Ref's, I can't fault them for not calling that one, as much as it must suck for Scuds to be eating his X-Mas ham through a straw this year

So what your saying is its suppose to entertain fans but shouldn't be there? I think this is my whole issue with the "anti" crowd....seems like anything that has been around for a while is ok but something new is a bad thing.

there's plenty of people planted on certain points of the traditonalist spectrum... without using some extreme example, there's many things you could do to entertain fans but when is the integrity of the game lost? i still don't see the issue with tie games... and I especially hate the fact that points are being given for what essentially is a pretty coin toss... and had absolutely no bearing on the previous 60 minutes... why not put it in the playoffs?

if for whatever reason games can't end in a tie I still would much rather see it go to 3on3 pond hockey first to keep it "special" since you would rarely get to a shootout and to me it would be even more exciting... stupid but exciting...
