Exactly, like we need Zherdev/Frolov 3.0?

If DZ can add some size and strength to himself, it will do wonders for him.

I'm glad that Glen it looking into Toots. Would have to think it would have happened by now though.

MDZ is a 20 year old 2nd year defenseman while Tyutin is a 26 year old veteran defenseman. Torts gave MDZ a writing assignment dissecting the Rangers PP while Tyutin was more of a punishment for bad play.

So the Rangers are interested in Tyutin. They can Rozsival or Christensen and a middle level prospect.

No way would I trade Rozy for Tyutin. Rozy has been good this year consistently.

Yeah. I would trade draft picks (3rd round?) + (low-tier prospect).

If he's a scratch he can't have much value.

If the only option was Rozy for toots, I turn it down.

Rozi is UNDERrated

Gilroy or Eminger + White + value (be it a pick or prospect) for Tyutin.

Toots can play both sides of the ice.

Yeah, screw that.

Rozy is a better player than Tyutin. I think the Rangers could win a cup this year if a few things go right and having as many good players as possible is paramount.

I'm not ready to go that far. But I have to say they have a damn good team. I think they are one player away from being at the very least a contender. If they get one more D and one more forward who can chip in some goals then theyd be a serious contender imo. The flyers game was a close one pretty much the entire game. One miscue led to a 1-0 lead. Rozy played his worst game of the year unfortunately.

I like Toots, but only if it comes at the cost of gilroy. This would make eminger the 7th which with the way he has played this year would make for nice security.

Going forward, the Rangers will have to lose Rozsival's $5M cap hit if they intend on bidding for a center. That is the issue with Rozsival. Dubinsky and Callahan are in line for decent raises. Sauer and Boyle are also eligible for salary arbitration. AA is a group II without arbitration rights. No bonus cushion.

RB in your opinion do you think sather considers dealing rosie off on the cheap say for a small salary and a pick to a team looking for a veteran defenseman? Then turns around and deals say gilroy for tyutin to replace rosie. All this because sather feels eminger has done a decent job thus enabling sather to free space for a forward.

I'd flip Roszi for Toots just for cap space.

I don't see any way Rozy gets traded this season. In the offseason, I think it's quite likely though.

Rather quickly now, former Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock is looking less culpable. The old curmudgeon seems to have pegged Nikita Filatov (scared), Derick Brassard (soft) and others to a tee. Maybe now we know why Odd Claude Noel was so ... peculiar. To protect his sanity?

They did? Because I remember the guy we got back leading our team in scoring, while the guy we sent them is currently a healthy scratch making 2.7 mil. Hmm.

mdz should not be a guy the rangers are looking to trade. he's 20 years old with tremendous upside and is already a huge offensive presence at the blue line for us. rozi's contract is ******, but honestly do we really NEED a big time center with the way AA, stepan, drury, boyle, dubinsky, etc. play? we have 5 guys who can play a decent center position and make plays. our defense is gonna be good for a long number of years, guys like mdz just need have a couple of years more to develop, we shouldn't be looking to trade them away for guys who can produce right now since this team isn't ready to win the cup this year

This begs the question, how much better would the Rangers be now with a d that included Toots? He would compliment MDZ quite well.
Bad, bad trade.

I highly doubt we would be any better with Tyutin. I do not get the love affair with this guy. He's been horrific the past 2 years, and he makes almost 3 mil. I don't know about you or anyone else, but I don't want to pay 3 mil to a guy who would be 5th or 6th on our depth chart. He probably wouldn't even play, considering Eminger and Sauer's play.

What? Toots is a top 4 defenseman and would likely banish Rozy to line 3. We would not have Emminger or Sauer on the team, how can you say that, any stats/evidence to back up your claim?

He's been a healthy scratch more than once this season, on a below average blueline, and he's on pace for only 14 points. Sauer is better defensively, and he is one of the core players on this team. Tyutin isn't pushing him out of the lineup. And Eminger has been rock solid for the past 25 games, better defensively than Tyutin, and he brings a physical element to the blueline we wouldn't have without him.
