wouldn't it be funny if Ennis-Connolly-Vanek was solution for our offensive struggles!

HA! a man can dream though

You mean the one that had no pressure because he was playing behind Briere and Drury?

What you doom & gloomers aren't taking into consideration, is that this season-ending injury to Roy may be just the thing to snap the Sabres out of their funk!

Don't you think there's the slightest chance they could all do some soul-searching now and maybe become a much more cohesive group due to all this adversity?

My BOLD prediction is that this latest blow will prompt the Sabres to go on a run where they barrel through the remaning 47 games, with a record of 30-17!

This would give them 92 points and put them solidly in 9th pla.........

Nevermind.

From a Bruins fan. Just read about this and I hope that Roy makes a complete recovery. I had exactly the same injury in January and the time to recover is right on... pretty much. It took two months before I could walk on the right leg, never mind approaching anything near normal. Hopefully it's faster for a pro athlete, but if the surgery is what I had, brrrr.

I'll be happy if the 2nd half of last season Connolly shows up. But that would also require the same from Hecht and Pommer.

what are the chances that Rolston is picked up off of re-entry waivers? seems like the two incidents (Roy's injuring and Rolston placement on re-entry waivers) aren't just coincidental.

there are rumors swirling about within the organization that roy's injury could be worse than first thought, and depending on the outcome of the surgery his pro career as a whole may be over...

Christ that's horrible. He's still relatively young and seems to be just getting into his prime.

Hope for his sake those are just unfounded rumors at this point. I would think a quad tendon would be much less likely to do long term damage, compared with something like a knee.

Oh god. I really hope that's not true. It would suck to have him taken down this season. Remember when at the beginning there was all that reporting about how he realized that he needed to start putting in a lot more work in order to live up to his potential? I felt like the fruits of that were just starting to be realized.

Not sure who you are or where you heard but my buddy heard this as well. He was in the New Era suite at the Juniors game the other night and they were all talking about it including the head guy at New Era.

Ugh.

Heard this just as I heard the news about the Pegula sale going through. Talk about a mood killer.

I'll take this with a giant grain of salt.

They're basically speculating that if his surgery doesn't go well he could be in trouble. Hardly an earth shattering assumption.

Didn't you have a buddy that said the Miller injury was serious too?

well, that isn't really the speculation they're making. the speculation is that there is a very slim chance that his leg will ever approach being 100% of where it was before it was before the injury, and for a player like derek, mobility is everything... basically they need a very, very good surgeon to do a very, very good job.

Semantics. Its basically the same thing I posted. He needs to have successful surgery. Again not an earth shattering assumption.

I say that because I'm well aware of what the injury is, how severe it is and have a basic understanding of how tough the recovery is.

I don't say it because I think its a simple surgery and he will be fine.
