Well apparently Datsyuk is broken. That can be beneficial. Luongo hasn't exactly been bulletproof either.

The Flyers have the potential to take all these games, but if the team that played the Panthers shows up I don't think so.

Western road trips always kill us.

I'm hoping to take 3 of 5.

The Flyers come home for just one home game before 4 more road games the next week as well, in sort of a screw job with 3 games in 4 nights: @Boston, @Atlanta, day off @NY Rangers.

Anything less than 6 points is pretty disappointing. I'd say. Western games are never gimmes, but if the Flyers are truly going to be elite, they have to win games like these.

This is going to be a real big stretch. After the stinker in florida they need to rebound and string some good efforts together. Need to make sure that the awful stretches from the last few years are a thing of the past. I'm hoping for 7 points.

I really hope we destroy Vancouver. One because Hamhuis refused to sign with us. Also people on here seem to be hyping them like they're something special.

It's going to be really tough. I just want them to beat the Canucks so I'll have bragging rights since my friend is a Canucks fan AND is going to the game AND may be going to the Flyers morning skate.

How sweet it would be to win a few of these games against the mighty, unbeatable Western Conference.

Western conference teams for us are like Florida teams, team lazy will probably show up. It will be quite a test thats for sure. The east is extremly tough this year and a couple losses will start adding up quickly and i hope we are still in the running by the time Pronger comes back.

3 out of 5 wins or 6+ points on this road trip should be a realistic goal for this team. They should be ready to play like no other team come the first game in Vancouver after both the week off and how their last game left a bad taste in their mouth. I can see them splitting the back-to-back in LA/Anaheim and winning in New Jersey. Any more is a bonus to me.

I'm not putting money on a win in Detroit... it's been 22 years since that last happened if I recall.

The Canucks don't impress me 5-on-5 but they have a wicked PP; and we all know what happened when we allowed a Western team with a great Power play use that advantage to cough up our 4-1 lead (*ahem* Sharks).

Let's not forget Briere's determination to get at least one stick infraction in the last 2 minutes of a tied hockey game. I'll admit the Canucks have gotten better 5-on-5 and I think Kesler's on a point streak.

The Kings are pretty solid, they've gotten better this past month and their offense is starting to pick up; they're one of those Western teams that I'll actually stay up to watch (maybe it's because they have Johnson and Doughty...Kopitar's boss too). It's going to be a back-to-back game for the Kings so we can take advantage of that.

The Ducks game is going to be interesting; it's a back-to-back game for the Flyers so they'll be tired, but then again Anaheim has already lost to a couple of teams who were tired after playing back-to-back games, they've gotten outworked in those games too (hopefully the boys will try winning it for Prongs)...I'm still kinda pissed about losing to them back in October...God I hate Perry's face...

And Detroit without Datsyuk still looks like a scary line-up; they obviously have enough depth to win games without him.

With that being said; let's Sweep these ******es

Due to the long rest. I'd say despite how good they are Nucks are in for a world of hurt. LA too. By the time they hit Anaheim, it'll be their third game back and a back-back game so they'll have problems there.

OTOH will Philly be rusty after the long layoff? Who knows, hockey's far too complicated to reliably predict game to game.

Boucher expected to start in Vancouver:

Quote:
The goalies
Of concern coming out of the break is the play of rookie goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. His game has taken a bit of a serious tumble.

On Nov. 15, Bobrovsky was the top goalie in the NHL with 11 wins, including 10 straight (11-2-1). He had a 2.01 goals against average and .934 save percentage on that day.

Since then, he has gone 4-3-2 with a 3.11 GAA and woeful .895 save percentage.

Although Bobrovsky could not be faulted entirely for the 5-0 pre-Christmas debacle against Florida, he didn’t look very good on two goals. You wonder how the Russian rookie has handled this long layoff, thinking about that loss.

“You’re going to have those games as a goaltender,” team captain Mike Richards said. “It’s unfortunate that it happened but he wasn’t the only one who didn’t have a good game [against Florida.]

“I played extremely poor, along with some other guys too. We’re not pointing fingers. We win and lose as a team. We know that we have to be better. Like I said, maybe this will give us a little kick. Maybe out confidence was too high, where we got to the cocky range instead of just being confident.”

Laviolette said he worried about every player, yet didn’t think that loss was going to do any significant mental damage to Bobrovsky.

This much seems certain: when the road trip begins in Vancouver, expect Brian Boucher in net.

Boucher is 6-0-1 in his last 8 games with a no-decision. Over that span, he has a 1.69 GAA and .941 save percentage.

There was a note in this column to the contrary, however, healthy skepticism will be amplified. Something Therien said late during the Florida debacle deserves emphasis: management is looking for a reason to get Leighton back into the mix and that game gave them ammunition. While this is Boucher and not Leighton, the underlying issue is who is number one?

Our skaters played god awful in front of Bob. It's not time to start throwing him under the bus just because he was hung out to dry. He hasn't been on fire, but the team certainly didn't help any.

It was a dismal effort and plenty of players, especially forwards, were elsewhere.
