TSN is airing a "Before they were Stars" special tonight, featuring some World Junior stars (mostly Canadian, but a few others mixed in there):

http://tsn.ca/world_jrs/btws2010/?player=Richards

http://tsn.ca/world_jrs/btws2010/?player=Carter

(There are a bunch of other players you can access from either link too).

Canada started off really nervously but it's turned into a good game. The Russian goalie has excellent rebound control but Olivier Roy for Canada scares me. Rebounds everywhere. 3 all after 2.

Canada's Schenn needs a smack -- what a freakin' puckhog and I've lost count of how many times he's coughed up the puck.

Canada is lucky this game is tied - hopefully they play smarter in the 3rd and take this one!

And the Russian goalie pooped the bed. Good job Canada! And it's fun wearing my Olympic jersey again!

Hopefully the USA can get a win tonight. I thought about going up for the game, but decided to save my coin for my trip to Philly.

Finland's goalie played incredible all night, then let that terrible goal in.

Definitely NOT the goalies fault at all. Russia played terrible defensively and they seemed like they just didn't care. Too many turnovers and boneheaded players by guys not named Tarasenko, Dvurechensky, Kuznetsov, Burdasov, Orlov, and Sobchenko led to too many odd man breaks and scoring chances.

Also they played so poorly that they were penalized and the Canadians capitalized. They didn't play with discipline and when they were on the PK the Russians didn't play organized, didn't pick up their man, and didn't take the blame. They were caught out of position too much and you just can't do that. ESPECIALLY against Team Canada.

Bobkov wasn't the problem in this game. Believe me, I was there.

What a fantastic game. Surprisingly there was about 80% Canadians in the arena cheering for FInland. It was a pretty sloppy game, but there were a good amount of plays that just looked perfect, especially from the US end. If I am not mistaken, I think it was Palmieri who pulled a sick dangle to get around the FInnish defender and almost scored. Armia is another kid to look out for at the draft. He and PUlkkinen were the two best FInnish players and Armia has a rocket of a wristshot.

I was just glad to see Bjugstad pot that one in OT. Got real loud in there.

Palmieri is a beast, wish he could have scored on that sick dangle

I didn't say he was THE problem. If you'll read what I said before I think you'll get it. However, he did let in a couple of bad ones but the Canadians did make life miserable in front of the net. It seems that year after year, Russian teams don't have the heart to win. So different from the days of communism when they were so feared on the ice.

We had him in Manchester for a couple of weeks and he was a good team player, so that is a bit suprising. Then again I havent seen much of his play outside of when he was here.
Canada looked good in the 3rd and got the win. I am just glad the US got that win. Finland drew them into their game for the most part and got a bit of a break on the game winner as it was pretty soft.

I saw Finland play a pre-tourney warmup game vs Canada on Thursday night, and I came away very impressed by them. They have some outstanding players, and a 16-year-old defenseman - Olli Maatta - I know there are accents on a couple of those letters - begging our Finnish friends' forgiveness . The kid is 6'2", 196 lbs (what the heck are they feeding him?!) who I think will be one to watch.

Schenn was a complete puckhog in every game I've seen him play with the WJC. I'm not sure what the heck is going on with him, but it's frustrating to watch - he's been taking low percentage shots rather than pass the puck to a wide open linemate consistently.

isnt he on a bad junior team in the WHL and pretty much a one man show? maybe he thinks he is still there.
