Tell me about Nail Yakupov!

I was going through the OHL stats and he's destroying the league as a rookie and he's not even draft eligible until 2012! Could you tell me a scouting report on this guy and is he clearly the 1st overall pick as of right now for the 2012 class? If not where do you see him when 2012 entry draft rolls around?

Seriously ? Yakupov's not in ? Cause on many websites it says he's on the roster. Maybe he's just there in case of an injury ?

as a Tatar myself i've never met any non-muslim Tatars, Islam is in almost every our tradition, in Tatarstan/Bashkortostan we officialy don't work on Uraza Bairam-Kurban Bairam(muslim celebrations of Ramadan, Holy Month), "Slavic-Russian" regions do work on that days
I actually have never met a Tatar that pratices it actively. I went to highschool with a few Tatars and became good friends with one of them, he said none of ones at our school at the time were actually practicing Muslims, and his family himself hadn't practices since before they moved to Canada. Maybe it's a a false assumption because he said it an he's the only Tatar I got to know, but the way he talked it seemed like most Tatars if Muslim they rarely practiced, he would go to the mosque no more than once a year just because it was their culture, but he said he thought that was pretty common for Tatars in general. Diffrent in Russia?

I just assume if Yakupov is Muslim he's none practising. Kadri skipped a lot of his normal religious things and he's quite religious (My family is friends with who Kadris billets used to be and I remember them saying he skipped of what he was spouse to do and if he wasn't even as close to religious as he was he probably wouldn't bother at all, but he'd still call himself muslim because of culture reasons)

It's not "false" information. When I posted that article he was on official roster. Then they removed him and Pedan

don't know realy but he's a Tatar and 95% of Tatars are Sunni Muslims

Khabibullin is like Johnson or Ivanov is one of the most common surname of Tatars the ending "Ullin" means something like "Of Allah"

Zainullin for example (player of Dynamo Moscow of KHL) his surname means "The Jewel of Allah" in Tatar/Bashkir language

Khabibulin is 100% not Muslim. He's either Atheist or Russian Orthodox, I'm leaning towards the former. It's like how Obama is a Muslim African name, but he's not Muslim.

Fox News told me differently.

And LOL @ Khabibulin being a Muslim. Funniest thing I've heard in a while.

Geez, I can see it now. This line would light it up one night and I could see Don Cherry saying how they "declared Jihad" against the other team.

what's funny here?

but ayway you were right, he's "kryashen tatar" - christinisied(did i spell it right??) tatar, 5% of Tatars are orthodox, it started when Ivan The Terrible conquered Kazan, some Tatar families turned to christians because it was said they will be released from taxes and so on..Khabibulin and alike thou having Tatar(muslim) surnames are ancestors of these families.

Maybe because he is in trouble for excessive drinking while its supposed to be forbidden for muslims.

mostly every Tatar drink alcohol

our Islam isn't like Arabian no wrapped women and such thing it's called djadidizm(don't know how it's spelled in English something like that) - or liberal islam.of course highly religious people don't drink at all but they are minority, we love to celebrate, drink(a bit) dance, sing it's all forbidden in countries like UAE or Saudi Arabia, so we don't want it that way, also there is no such word as Jihhad in Tatar's Islam

I think his last name is about the only thing Tatar left about him. He definitely looks Russian and not Tatar, probably hasn't had a full Tatar relative for hundreds of years.
