I should try to make it up to Buffalo for a game, takes the same amount of time to get there as Columbus.

HOpefully USA wins gold and Johansen leads the tourney in points.

I thought the Bruins had announced that Seguin wasn't going? I could be wrong, though.

Team Canada is built for physicality, it's obvious this year. Guys like Schenn, Hamilton, Kassian, Howden, Ashton, Couturier, and Connolly, are all power forward guys. It will be interesting to see how the usually smallish group of US forwards can handle some of the big boys. That's not even mentioning guys like Johansen that are just plain big and hard to keep in check.

Not a ton of oozing offensive talent like in years' past, but they are without a doubt a talented bunch. Good mix on the backend as well, I love the combination of size/strength, as well as the smallish puck movers they've brought in.

Canada will be fun to watch, if nothing else.

The Dont mess with The Johan thread

Just read on twitter that Ryan Johansen is manning the powerplay as the first line center, and from all accounts has looked very dominant so far in the WJC. Is there any chance the cbj can call him up after the WJC ? I'm not up on all the rules and regulations.

No, he can't be recalled. The only reason Mason was recalled from juniors a few times was on "emergency" because we had no other goalie on a NHL contract (the ones in the minors were either also injured or not on NHL deals)

I don't know if they can but I know that they won't. It would be foolish to do so on many levels.

Keep him away from this mess. We can turn him into a bust as early as next year.

It's certainly legal. But it's a terrible idea on many different levels.

Johansen looks GOOD. I haven't seen him play since before we drafted him. Patient with the puck, good along the walls, and he has picked up his physical and defensive game tremendously.

Johansen could play for the Jackets this season after his junior team's season is over.

However, the Portland Winterhawks are one of the top teams in the WHL and are expected to go deep into the WHL playoffs (if not win the WHL championship).

So, it would likely require the Jackets to have a good playoff run and the Winterhawks to exit quickly.

But it would be best probably for his development if he could lead Portland to the Memorial Cup.

With Jackets prospects, the ability to learn how to win seems to be one of the missing components. I'd like to see Johansen break that trend. He also seems to have the ability to step up in big games.

I was really happy with the way Ryan played tonight. Played physical and created a lot of chances.

Why would they cheer for their biggest rival for the cup?

Normal neighbour rivalry. It's the same with Finland and Sweden, we always cheer against each other. I don't think it's classless crap.
