Oh I agree. Just that so much of the awards is either about early hype that carries you through the year and a momentum shifting event like the Olympics was for Doughty. Doughty has neither on his side this year. He's going to really have to go on an offensive tear because so much of the Norris is about scoring, regardless of whether it should be that way or not.

I also hate the +/- statistic. It's too misleading. If Drew is getting consideration just based on that, do we say Ryan Whitney is a Norris finalist right now with 27 points and a +13 on a BAD Edmonton team? Or that Mike Green should have been ahead of Drew last year based on his +39 or that Jeff Schultz was a great d-man last year due to his +50?

I hope Drew ends up a Norris Finalist because that means great things for the team to finish this season but I think it's a bit premature to start the Norris hype for him.

Yeah, but Craig Button jinxed it when he said the Kings are a Stanley Cup contender.

I wish he hadn't said that.

Let's hope we give the Sharks a slump like they gave us after the last game. That would definitely help our standings..

Great win... Not to bust everyone's bubble but SJ didn't play all that hot. We did play well which obviously had a part in their lack of play...
As for Doughty and Norris... Seriously people... Lidstrom no questions asked... Different level altogether.
Lidstrom is truly one of the greats of all time and is on the very high end of his game this year... With Cleary and Datsyuk out for over a month look for Lidstrom to stake even more of a claim than he already has on this trophy...

There's no bubble to burst. San Jose was the rested team. It was an inexcusable performance from them, but I don't think any team beats the Kings the way the Kings played tonight - lackluster performance or otherwise.

I was at the game. One word: amazing. Everyone chirped me for 2 periods and then the 3rd came and everyone ****. That 1st period was 19 minutes of GREAT hockey but just not burying any. 2nd had me a bit worried at times. 3rd period was what I like to see. Kopi to Brown is my goal of the year. After the Kings 3rd goal, half the arena left. It was ****ing awesome. Sometimes I hate this team and can't stand to watch the brutal **** performance that they put on but tonight was just what we need to see night in and night out.

Speaking of in and out, mine was extra delicious tonight

GO KINGS GO! **** THE SHARKS!

ps. there were 2 other kings fans in my section, both in the black 3rd jerseys. one was a kopi and another a simmer. was that anyone here? They were cool guys.

Kopitar now 11th in the league in scoring.
Brown in the Top 20 now.
Williams still in the Top 30.

Both having played two or so less games than most of the people ahead of them.

Practice makes perfect!

Quote:
(on whether he knew the pass from Kopitar was coming…)
BROWN: “Yeah. We’ve actually tried that, in similar situations. You probably don’t realize it because it has never connected like that. Either I’m thinking he’s going to do it too early, and I’m going too fast, or he flips it on a second too late and it ends up being an icing. Tonight we both were on the same page with that flip, and he put it right there.”

"I'm just embarrassed," defenseman Dan Boyle said. "It was a terrible effort. There were a lot of line changes and faceoffs where things could happen. It was just effort. A lot of us took the night off and against a team as good as that, it can't happen."

Wish the frickin playoffs started this week...Kings are flying high.

Kings just destroyed two divisional rivals in two nights. Unreal how well the Kings have looked in these two games.

Can't wait for Mitchell to be back.

"There has to be a complete turnaround," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said. "There's nothing from this game we can take and say 'keep doing that.' We were outworked, outhustled, outmuscled and outcommitted. It was pretty obvious one team came to play and another team came to see what would happen. I knew we weren't going to be perfect, but I expected to be a lot more competitive."

Considering some of the quotes from San Jose, you know they are going to bring it Saturday night.

The Kings are a team that is very frustrating to play against when they are on their game. There isn't much room out there for skilled forwards or defenesmen to make a play the way the Kings are playing team defense. Only a team that keeps it simple and works just as hard will have any success at all against the Kings when they play like that.

There is an other guy from Slovenia coming up Jan Mursak a Detroit prospect showing some upside. Don't know to much about him but heard that he is on a rise. I will check it up....Ehh? He was recently called up to play his first Nhl game

BTW Martinez played his best game of the year.

edit: I can't believe I misspelled his name

Don't forget the 5-0 shut out of Detroit ... the 5-0 shut out of Colorado ... the 6-1 victory over Nashville ...
as BAD as the Kings looked in Late November, losing 7 of 8 ...
they're 9-2-1 so far in December and really only played poorly in St Louis. This team is ...
